Senior Special Inspector (Soils/Rebar/Masonry) Job Category: Inspectors Requisition Number: CMTSP003129 Full-Time On-site Locations Norcross, GA 30071, USA NOVA Engineering & Environmental is seeking an experienced Special Inspector to join our Norcross, GA team. This is a field-focused role responsible for performing code‑required inspections on commercial, municipal, and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, and applicable building codes. This opportunity is ideal for a highly certified inspector with multiple ICC credentials who is looking to play a key role on complex projects, work independently in the field, and serve as a trusted technical resource for clients and project teams. Key Responsibilities Perform special inspections in accordance with applicable building codes and project requirements, including: Structural steel, bolting, and welding; Reinforced concrete; Soils and foundations; Structural masonry Verify construction complies with approved plans, specifications, and code requirements Interpret building codes, construction documents, and engineering details Prepare detailed, accurate, and timely inspection reports Communicate inspection findings and coordinate with contractors, engineers, and clients Serve as a technical resource on job sites, helping resolve inspection and compliance issues Maintain proper documentation to support code compliance and project closeout Adhere to all company and project safety standards Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required (Associate or technical degree preferred) 5+ years of experience in special inspections and/or construction inspections Strong knowledge of building codes, inspection procedures, and construction practices Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications Strong communication skills and ability to work independently in the field Ability to work outdoors on active construction sites in varying conditions Ability to lift up to 50 lbs as needed Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record Required Certifications Multiple active ICC certifications are required , such as: Soils, Reinforced Concrete, Structural Masonry, Structural Steel & Bolting, Welding Preferred Certifications Master of Special Inspections (MSI) (highly preferred) Additional ICC certifications beyond the core disciplines listed above In addition to our welcoming company culture and competitive compensation packages, our employees enjoy the below benefits: Use of take-home Company Vehicle with fuel card for daily travel to work sites Comprehensive group medical insurance, including health, dental and vision Opportunity for professional growth and advancement Certification reimbursement and incentive program Paid time off Company–observed paid holidays Company paid life insurance for employee, spouse and children Company paid short term disability coverage Other supplemental benefit offerings including long-term disability, critical illness, accident and identity theft protection 401K retirement with company matching of 50% on the first 6% of employee contributions Wellness program with incentives Employee Assistance Program NOVA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
