The Quality Control Technician checks materials, products, and production work to make sure they meet the company’s required standards before they move forward or reach customers. The position combines hands-on inspection, testing, accurate documentation, and quick identification of quality problems.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials, work-in-progress, and finished products for defects or inconsistencies.
• Perform routine quality tests using gauges, measuring tools, inspection equipment, or approved testing procedures.
• Compare products against drawings, specifications, samples, and established quality standards.
• Identify defective or out-of-spec products and document the reason for rejection.
• Record inspection results, measurements, test findings, and corrective actions accurately.
• Work with production teams to investigate recurring defects and determine where problems are occurring.
• Verify that corrected products meet requirements before approving them for production, shipment, or release.
• Maintain inspection tools and report equipment that requires repair or calibration.

These responsibilities align with current BLS and O*NET descriptions of QC technicians and inspectors, including inspecting, measuring, testing, documenting results, and identifying products that fail specifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or an associate degree is a plus.
• Previous experience in quality control, manufacturing, production, laboratory testing, or a related environment preferred.
• Comfortable using measuring and inspection equipment.
• Ability to read specifications, work instructions, and basic technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize small defects or variations.
• Good documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Salary Range: $55,000 – $78,000 annually
