Indirect Buyer Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, supply chain, a technical field, or a related discipline preferred
  
• At least two years of indirect purchasing or buying experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or automotive environment
  
• Experience sourcing MRO supplies, spare parts, equipment repairs, packaging materials, or facility services
  
• Practical experience identifying suppliers, analyzing quotes, negotiating prices, and managing purchase orders
  
• Ability to read basic technical specifications
  
• Strong communication skills when working with technical teams and suppliers
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  
• Experience using an ERP system such as SAP preferred
  
• Familiarity with MRP and MPS processes preferred
  
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  
• Experience in a maintenance, technical, or automotive-manufacturing environment preferred
  
• Familiarity with industrial-product supplier markets and sourcing tools preferred
  

Key Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end procurement activities for MRO supplies, spare parts, facility services, mold maintenance, packaging materials, and other indirect goods and services.
  
• Source, evaluate, and select qualified suppliers.
  
• Obtain and analyze supplier quotes.
  
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, service requirements, and delivery schedules.
  
• Secure the appropriate quality, cost, and delivery terms to support manufacturing operations.
  
• Prepare, place, and monitor purchase orders.
  
• Follow up on open orders to meet operational requirements and minimize production downtime.
  
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, production, and other departments to clarify technical specifications and purchasing requirements.
  
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, supplier communications, and order activity in the ERP system.
  
• Resolve delivery, quality, service, and invoicing issues promptly.
  
• Support inventory management for critical spare parts and commonly used supplies.
  
• Research alternative suppliers and sourcing opportunities.
  
• Maintain and update supplier information and purchasing records.
  
• Provide backup support for the direct-material buyer or material planner.
  
• Place orders with direct-material suppliers when coverage is required.
  
• Perform additional purchasing and supply-chain duties as assigned.
