KCPC Inpatient Registered Nurse, full-time

Job Description A competent Psychiatric Registered Nurse who practices psychiatric‑mental health nursing will provide general nursing tasks for the holistic care and treatment of patients’ medical and psychiatric needs. This professional nurse shall possess specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities that have been obtained through education and experience caring for persons with behavioral health needs, psychiatric disorders, and co‑occurring psychiatric and substance use disorders. Key Responsibilities Participate in assessment, nursing diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and coordination of care. Provide health teaching and health promotion to a unique patient population. Offer counseling (individual and group) and manage safety of the therapeutic milieu in a secure forensic facility. Deliver counseling interventions including communication and interviewing techniques, problem‑solving activities, crisis intervention, stress management, supportive skill building, educational groups, relaxation techniques, assertiveness training, and conflict resolution. Engage in mission‑driven leadership focused on patient care and quality improvement. Follow facility policies and procedures. Adhere to time and attendance policies, including mandatory overtime; be subject to recall to duty, held over, and irregular shift rotation to meet coverage needs. Recognize that this essential position is designated for mandatory operations and is not eligible for adverse weather leave. Qualifications Requires a competent Psychiatric Registered Nurse with practice in psychiatric‑mental health nursing, possessing specialized knowledge, skills, and experience caring for patients with behavioral health and substance use disorders.
