Senior Test Engineer - Electromechanical Actuation

Our client is a well-funded humanoid robotics company headquartered in Austin, TX, building advanced robots for real-world deployment in manufacturing and logistics. They are moving from engineering builds into high-volume production and need a senior test engineer to own actuator validation across that entire journey — from design validation, through new product introduction (NPI), and into the factory. This is a production-focused validation role , not a bench-only R&D seat. The ideal candidate has carried test development through a real manufacturing ramp and knows how to make a test process repeatable and trustworthy at volume. What you’ll own Serve as the technical owner for manufacturing validation of robotic actuators (both linear and rotary) Define test strategies for servo-driven electromechanical systems: calibration & alignment, functional validation, performance characterization, fault detection, and failure analysis Architect test systems, fixtures, and factory-releasable test stations — and lead their bring-up, debug, and release Specify instrumentation and interfaces: servo drives and motor controllers, real-time motion networks, position/torque/current/temperature/vibration sensing, and data acquisition Partner with controls, hardware, firmware, and systems teams so testability is designed into actuators from the start Lead the transition from engineering builds to high-volume manufacturing , driving improvements in yield, cycle time, and reliable failure detection Improve test repeatability and measurement reliability — eliminating intermittent and false-pass results Lead and manage outside test-bed vendors and integrators Mentor and develop a junior hardware test engineer Produce clear, production-ready documentation: test procedures, specifications, calibration procedures, and operator/technician training and maintenance plans What you bring (required) ~7+ years in hardware test, manufacturing test, or system validation of electromechanical systems Hands‑on experience testing servo-driven actuators or electric motors / motion systems Strong understanding of servo control systems, motor drives, and closed‑loop feedback Proven ability to take test development from concept through production deployment Experience deploying automated test systems for hardware products (our test automation stack is Python ) Strong cross‑functional collaboration with hardware, controls, and manufacturing teams Comfortable in a fast‑paced robotics or hardware product environment Bachelor’s in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering — or equivalent hands‑on experience Open to US persons only Preferred (a strong plus, not required) Measurement-system / repeatability expertise: GR&R, MSA, SPC Real-time motion networks: EtherCAT (preferred), CANopen, or SERCOS EV / e-motor / dynamometer test background NPI experience; design-for-test / design-for-manufacturability (DFT/DFM) MES / production-database integration Prior humanoid or legged-robotics exposure Competitive base salary (starting ~$130K) Available equity options in a high-growth robotics company Relocation assistance for non-local candidates Working environment Split across office, lab, and production floor, with regular hands‑on work at test stations Periods of desk and computer work; able to lift up to ~15 lbs as needed Vision to read printed materials and screens; clear communication with the team #J-18808-Ljbffr Growing Groves
