Position Overview Job Title: ULTRASOUND TCHNO SR Department: Ultrasound-Diagnostic Appointment Type: Career Appointment Percent: 80% Union Status: EX Contract Work Schedule: Days, 8 Hour Shifts, Monday - Friday Worksite: Jacobs Medical Center Pay Scale: $59.54 - $81.45 / Hour Job Summary As a Perinatal Sonographer, you perform low‑ and high‑risk perinatal obstetric (OB) ultrasound examinations in accordance with established departmental guidelines and protocols. You have a special interest and expertise in prenatal diagnosis and OB ultrasound, with the ability to recognize normal and pathological conditions and apply additional modalities as indicated (eg, Doppler, 3D/4D). You obtain relevant history via EMR, image according to protocol, review cases with the care team, and generate preliminary reports using structured‑reporting software. Familiarity with troubleshooting imaging IT issues is required. You may also be required to perform other duties as assigned. Employer Shifts and Benefits Perinatal Sonographers receive: biweekly Fetal Medicine Conferences and quarterly Quality Assurance meetings (earn up to 2.5 CMEs per month); annual CME travel and registration funding; training in advanced imaging techniques including 3D/4D and microvascular Doppler flow imaging (SlowFlowHD); opportunities to perform ultrasound‑guided invasive procedures; credentialing for Fetal Echocardiography (FE) alongside fetal cardiologists and MFM specialists; teaching of fellows, residents and students; research participation with chances for publication and presentation; ergonomic work environment with large, ergonomically designed suites; average of 6–8 scans per day using premium GE Voluson ultrasound systems. Responsibilities Perform low‑ and high‑risk perinatal OB ultrasound examinations. Recognize normal and pathological conditions and apply additional modalities as needed. Obtain patient history via EMR, image according to protocol, and generate preliminary reports using structured reporting software. Review cases with the care team. Troubleshoot imaging IT issues. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of a CAAHEP accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program. Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in OB/GYN. BART or BLS at time of hire, with commitment to obtain BART within six months. Commitment to continued education in MFM ultrasound by obtaining at least 15 CMEs (20 CMEs for Principal level) every 36 months in detailed OB ultrasound and/or fetal echocardiography. Recent, relevant clinical experience in an OB or MFM (fetal) ultrasound setting. Experience performing nuchal translucency exams and/or 12‑14 week detailed anatomy scans per AIUM guidelines. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Basic computer skills. Knowledge of sonographic assessment of maternal‑fetal conditions, including a thorough understanding of fetal anatomy, physiology, anomalies, and high‑risk maternal factors. Preferred Qualifications RDMS or RDCS in Fetal Echocardiography (FE). Nuchal Translucency Quality Review (NTQR) Certification. Inpatient OB experience. Two to three years OB ultrasound experience in an MFM setting. Special Conditions Must be able to work at various locations in the San Diego region based on business needs, including La Jolla, Sorrento Valley, Hillcrest, and Encinitas. No call, no weekends, no nights, and no holidays. Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical. Pay Transparency Act Annual full pay range: $124,320 - $154,596 (prorated if appointment percent is less than 100%). Hourly equivalent: $59.54 - $74.04.
