Purpose Of Position: The Project Engineer oversees the planning, designing, development, procurement, and construction of electric generation projects, ensuring compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and regulatory requirements. Acting as Owners Engineer, the position directs engineering projects, reviews designs, and manages technical support for capital projects, focusing on optimizing operations through excellence, accountability, and best practices.



Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supports engineering services for electric substations, battery, solar, wind, and natural gas generation, conducting studies, investigations, and coordinating with stakeholders.
• Manages outside engineering services, reviewing plans, specifications, and design packages for compliance.
• Supports project management with scheduling, design, estimates, and engineering specifications.
• Tracks and manages maintenance and testing for existing electrical equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Develops detailed design specifications, prepares bid packages, and oversees the installation and commissioning of electrical equipment.
• Oversees the specification, design, and maintenance of transformers, breakers, and protective relays.
• Supports the Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Quote (RFQ) process.
• Provides engineering assistance to other departments and technical leadership to staff.
• Acts as a subject matter expert for regulatory compliance (FERC, NERC, WECC).

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
• Minimum of five years of industry experience in industrial power systems or electric utility power systems.
• Advanced technical degree or professional engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering principles, federal laws, regulations, and National Electric Codes.
• Advanced project management skills with the ability to lead projects and work effectively in a diverse working environment.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
• Ability to read and interpret complex technical documents.
• Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to travel overnight as required.
