Senior Grant Compliance Manager
YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish is seeking a strategic and experienced Senior Grant Compliance Manager to lead and elevate our grant compliance function.
This is more than a compliance role. It is an opportunity to build, modernize, and strengthen a critical organizational function that supports millions of dollars in public and private grant funding each year.
We are looking for someone who enjoys creating structure where opportunities exist, designing efficient processes, improving internal controls, and partnering across departments to build sustainable systems. The ideal candidate is energized by taking an already strong foundation and helping transform it into a best-in-class grant compliance program.
Working closely with Finance, Program Leadership, Executive Leadership, and external funding partners, this position will lead grant compliance efforts across the organization while serving as a trusted advisor on regulatory requirements, financial stewardship, and organizational risk. Success in this role requires both technical expertise and the ability to influence, collaborate, and drive continuous improvement across a complex nonprofit organization.

Work Type: Hybrid. This position is based in the Seattle metropolitan area. Candidates must reside within commuting distance of our King or Snohomish County worksites. Regular travel throughout King and Snohomish counties is required for meetings, collaboration, training, and other business needs. Relocation assistance is not available.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Lead and continuously improve YWCA's organization-wide grant compliance program.
- Develop long-term strategies that strengthen compliance infrastructure while supporting organizational growth.
- Serve as the organization's subject matter expert on federal, state, local, and private grant compliance requirements.
- Build collaborative partnerships across Finance, Programs, Development, and Executive Leadership to promote organizational accountability and compliance.
- Monitor grant-funded programs to ensure compliance with grant agreements, funding regulations, and organizational policies.
- Review grant terms and conditions and communicate compliance requirements to program and administrative staff.
- Develop and maintain compliance tracking systems for reporting deadlines, deliverables, and grant obligations.
- Conduct periodic internal compliance reviews and risk assessments.
- Identify potential compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Collaborate with Finance and Program Departments to ensure grant expenditures are allowable, allocable, reasonable, and properly documented.
- Review financial reports, budgets, and supporting documentation for compliance with funding requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of grant budgets, modifications, and budget revisions.
- Support annual audits and monitoring visits related to grant-funded programs.
- Coordinate and prepare timely grant reports for funders, including financial and programmatic reporting.
- Maintain accurate and organized grant files and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with record retention policies and funder requirements.
- Prepare documentation and responses for grantor inquiries and site visits.
- Experience managing Single Audit requirements and completing PBC schedules and supporting documentation.
- Evaluate current grant administration practices and identify opportunities for modernization.
- Design scalable workflows, templates, policies, and procedures that improve efficiency and reduce organizational risk.
- Develop internal controls that strengthen compliance while supporting operational effectiveness.
- Partner with Finance and Program Leadership to streamline grant management processes from award through closeout.
- Champion continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and reporting tools.
- Monitor changes in grant regulations and funding requirements.
- Assess organizational compliance risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Investigate compliance concerns and coordinate corrective action plans as necessary.
- Support organizational readiness for audits, monitoring reviews, and regulatory inspections.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, Nonprofit Management, or a related field required.
- Master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 57 years of progressively responsible experience in grant management, compliance, auditing, or nonprofit administration.
- Experience managing federal, state, and private foundation grants.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles and grant regulations.
- Experience with Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Grants Management Specialist (CGMS) or similar professional certification.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
- Experience with federal grant compliance and Single Audit requirements.
- Experience working in a mission-driven nonprofit environment.
- Experience with grant billing, including oversight of grant billing staff and/or direct preparation of grant billings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong understanding of grant compliance requirements and nonprofit regulations.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret complex grant agreements and regulatory requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, grant management tools, and Accounting ERP software.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Build and maintain trusted partnerships across departments, serving as a collaborative compliance resource.
- Translate complex regulatory requirements, grant conditions, and compliance obligations into clear, accessible language tailored to diverse audiences ranging from program staff to senior leadership and external auditors.
Physical Demands of This Position:
- All positions at YWCA Seattle | King | Snohomish are exposed to clients who have experienced or are experiencing trauma in various forms including but not limited to domestic violence, sexual violence, homelessness, unemployment, financial hardship, etc. As a result, staff are at risk of secondary trauma. - Occasionally travels locally to YWCA offices, program sites, funder meetings, trainings, conferences, monitoring visits, or audit-related activities.

- Frequently exercises analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making while interpreting complex regulations and financial information.
- Continuously maintains the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote and hybrid work environment.
$108,000 - $118,000 a year RATE, HOURS, BENEFITS Salaries, exempt: $108,000 - $118,000 DOE. 40 hours per week, with occasional overtime Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classification: Exempt position. Excellent benefits package including medical insurance, retirement plan, plus generous vacation, holiday, and sick leave plans. At the time of hire, employees may choose to voluntarily enroll in the Fidelity 403b Plan. Typically, after two years of employment, employees are eligible to participate in the YWCA Retirement Fund with a 14% employer contribution.
