Associate Manager, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting

The Associate Manager, Technical Accounting & SEC Reporting is responsible for researching and applying U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements to complex business transactions and financial reporting matters.

This position will support quarterly and annual SEC reporting, including the preparation of disclosures and footnotes for Forms 10-K and 10-Q, as well as the development of clear, well-supported, audit-ready technical accounting memoranda and work papers.

The Associate Manager will collaborate with Finance, Legal, Operations, external auditors, and other key stakeholders to evaluate accounting, disclosure, control, and reporting implications. The role will also leverage financial reporting systems, automation tools, and emerging technologies to improve reporting accuracy, efficiency, consistency, and control effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Accounting & U.S. GAAP

• Research and interpret complex U.S. GAAP accounting guidance.
• Analyze complex business transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
• Evaluate accounting and reporting implications of business activities and transactions.
• Prepare clear, comprehensive, and audit-ready technical accounting memoranda.
• Develop and maintain supporting accounting work papers and documentation.
• Partner with internal stakeholders and external auditors regarding technical accounting conclusions.

SEC Reporting

• Support the preparation of quarterly and annual SEC filings.
• Prepare assigned disclosures and footnotes for:
• Form 10-K
• Form 10-Q
• Support financial statement tie-outs and disclosure reviews.
• Ensure SEC disclosures are accurate, complete, consistent, and supported by appropriate documentation.
• Research and apply applicable SEC reporting requirements.

Controls, Compliance & Governance

• Support SOX and disclosure control requirements related to financial reporting.
• Assess accounting, disclosure, control, and reporting implications in partnership with Finance, Legal, Operations, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain strong documentation and governance throughout the reporting process.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen reporting controls and processes.

Reporting Systems & Process Improvement

• Utilize financial reporting systems and technology to support quarterly and annual reporting activities.
• Leverage automation tools and emerging technologies to improve:
• Reporting accuracy
• Process efficiency
• Reporting consistency
• Control effectiveness
• Identify opportunities to streamline financial reporting processes and strengthen governance.
• Experience with Workiva, Oracle FCCS, or similar financial reporting platforms is preferred.

Project & Deadline Management

• Manage multiple time-sensitive deliverables during quarterly and annual reporting cycles.
• Prioritize competing responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
• Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure reporting requirements and deadlines are met.
• Effectively manage multiple accounting and reporting workstreams simultaneously.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience within:
• Public accounting, and/or
• SEC reporting
• Technical accounting
• Consolidations
• Fortune 500 corporate accounting environments
• Demonstrated ability to research and apply complex U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Experience preparing or supporting SEC filings, disclosures, footnotes, and financial statement tie-outs.
• Experience drafting audit-ready technical accounting memoranda and supporting documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively across functions and with external auditors.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight quarterly and annual reporting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• U.S. CPA strongly preferred, or active progress toward CPA certification.
• Experience with SOX and disclosure controls.
• Experience with financial reporting systems such as:
• Workiva
• Oracle FCCS
• Similar consolidation or financial reporting platforms
• Experience utilizing automation tools or emerging technologies to improve financial reporting processes.
