Data Systems Analyst/Product Owner

Overview

We are seeking a Data Systems Analyst/Product Owner to support a high-visibility data transformation initiative. This role sits at the center of business and engineering, responsible for bringing clarity, structure, and direction to fast-moving, ambiguous work.

This is not a passive documentation role. The ideal candidate will guide stakeholders, challenge unclear requirements, and ensure engineering teams receive clean, actionable inputs to execute effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Gather, clarify, and refine business requirements across cross-functional stakeholders
Translate vague or incomplete requests into clear, structured, and actionable requirements
Guide stakeholders who may not fully understand their needs or desired outcomes
Define and organize scope, including priorities, dependencies, and open questions
Act as a buffer between business stakeholders and engineering to reduce noise and ambiguity
Ensure engineering teams receive well-defined, ready-to-build requirements
Maintain documentation such as user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirement artifacts
Support cross-functional collaboration across business, product, and engineering teams
Bring structure and organization to a fast-moving, evolving transformation environment

Required Qualifications

Experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Business Analyst, Product Owner, or Systems Analyst
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills
Strong experience in requirements gathering, scoping, and documentation
Ability to operate in ambiguity and guide unclear conversations to clarity
Proven ability to work across technical and non-technical teams
Strong organizational skills with the ability to track priorities, dependencies, and scope

Preferred Qualifications

Experience supporting data, analytics, or engineering teams
Exposure to data platforms, reporting, or transformation initiatives
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence)
Experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria
Technical literacy in areas such as data pipelines, SQL, or cloud platforms (not required to be hands-on)
