Our FKC-Lake Shore division provides design/build/install services for innovative Hoisting and Vertical Conveyance Systems. Our goal is to be the industry’s best source, and best value, for complete turn-key construction, engineering and design-build services and related products.Notable public and private sector clients include major transportation authorities in Los Angeles, New York, and Seattle; Gateway Development Commission; public works authorities in New York, Los Angeles, and Vancouver; Federal agencies; and mining clients for gold, copper, potash, salt, and coal.***Extraordinary Projects, Exceptional Performance*****DESCRIPTION:**As a **Payroll Specialist** at Frontier-Kemper, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the accurate and timely production of payroll data for hourly and salaried employees across multiple construction projects and locations. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws, union agreements, prevailing wage requirements, and company policies. The Payroll Specialist works closely with fellow Payroll Teammates, Human Resources, Project Management, Accounting, and field personnel to maintain payroll accuracy and support workforce operations.* Prepare weekly payroll for union and non-union employees.* Review, verify, and enter employee timecards, job cost allocations, per diem payments, and equipment hours into Excel.* Ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements, certified payroll reporting, and applicable labor regulations as coordinated with supervisor.* Maintain employee payroll records, including pay rates.* Audit payroll data to identify and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing.* Prepare certified payroll reports for public works projects.* Coordinate payroll-related activities with project managers, field supervisors, HR, and Accounting.* Reconcile payroll reports.* Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, tax forms, and payroll policies.* Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and reports.* Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company payroll regulations as coordinated with supervisor.* Scan and organize documents electronically.* Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information.**REQUIREMENTS:*** 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in the construction industry.* Experience preparing payroll for union and non-union employees.* Understanding of prevailing wage laws, certified payroll reporting, and Davis-Bacon requirements.* Understanding of multi-state payroll processing and payroll tax regulations.* Willing to adapt to changing processes.* Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, JD Edwards (E1), or similar platforms.* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, and reporting.* Strong attention to detail and accuracy, even in fast-paced environment.* Excellent organizational and time management skills.* Ability to handle multiple priorities and meet strict payroll deadlines.* Effective verbal and written communication skills.* Willing to jump in and assist team and department members.* Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.**PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:*** Experience with heavy civil, infrastructure, mining, or commercial construction payroll a plus.* Strong in Excel.* Understanding of job costing and labor allocation processes.* Understanding of Canadian payroll a plus.* Familiarity with collective bargaining agreements and union reporting requirements.**OUR MISSION**We build critical infrastructure that creates a better world.**OUR VISION**We strive to be the preeminent full-service civil, building, and specialty contractor by delivering innovative, transformative projects through world-class execution.
