Below are more details before you decide to apply: Location: onsite in Manchester, MI Position: Direct Care Associate Hourly: $18.40 Benefits start after 30 days: Health, Dental, Vision and many more! *All offers of employment are contingent upon background screens* The Direct Care Associate (DCA) will provide supervision to Eisenhower residents including transporting to appointments, assisting with ADL’s redirecting negative behaviors, maintaining a safe environment for the clients, and maintaining a clean environment for the clients. Assisting individuals with disabilities in acquiring, retaining, and improving skills that enable them to improve quality of life. Promoting independence when applicable, inclusion and community engagement. Providing direct support and assistance in developing and enhancing skills for daily living, social interaction, and vocational pursuits. The DCA shall carry out all intervention plans and strategies directed by clinical staff (i.e., behavioral, speech, clinical case management, counseling, occupational and physical therapists). Direct Care Associate Essential Duties: Provide opportunities through the day to help residents meet their goals. Adhere to the person-centered plans, and behavior plans as written for each resident. Provide quality of care and safe and healthy setting free from harm while upholding the rights of all residents. Create a space of trust and relationship with all residents. Transport residents and attend appointments, advocate, and obtain necessary documentation, when needed. Must remain awake and immediately accessible in all homes requiring 24/7 care. Staff in Full Time/Part Time Slots are expected to work the set schedule consistently and are permitted to pick up additional shifts with approval. Client focused and strong communication skills. Key Accountability Items Job Performance: Maintain zero advisements for any performance related issues including – attendance, documentation, compliance, engagement, attitude and paraverbal. Attendance: Must be on time for all shifts and must be in attendance for shift report during shift exchange. Documentation: Accuracy and completeness with Daily Progress Notes (DPN), Direct Data Sheet (DDS) and any other unit documentation. Compliance: Fully compliant with all organizational training and updates in policies. Engagement: Maintaining full engagement with residents while on shift. Attitude: Maintain a positive attitude on the floor and with all residents and staff. Paraverbal: Ensure there is no poor paraverbal usage while on the floor with residents and staff. Direct Care Associate Preferred Qualifications and Education Requirements A minimum education of high school diploma or GED. Valid Driver License and reliable transportation. Previous experience in healthcare field Experience with providing direct care to individuals with disabilities. Ability to accept constructive feedback. Ability to pass background checks as required by regulatory agencies Ability to follow instructions, work independently and demonstrate patience and empathy. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The Ideal Candidate Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently or as a collaborative member of a team Ability to direct other team members and coach others Knowledge of CMH/TBI residents and behavioral redirection Ability to provide exceptional care and assistance with ADLs Demonstrating client-focused strategy skills Demonstrated skill in reporting, and summarizing daily tasks and worksheets Ability to make decisions and take initiative in problem resolution Ability to exercise tact and responsibility with handling confidential information Physical Demands and Working Conditions This position requires frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, exposure to bodily fluids and other physical activities throughout the workday while providing direct care and support to residents. The employee must be able to safely assist residents with activities of daily living, mobility needs, transportation, recreational activities, and community outings. The employee may be required to lift, push, pull, transfer, or otherwise assist residents and equipment in accordance with resident care needs and training provided by the organization. The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds independently and greater weights with assistance or appropriate lifting devices. Work is performed in residential, community-based, and behavioral health treatment settings. The employee will have regular exposure to residents receiving services in adult foster care and behavioral health environments and may interact with individuals exhibiting behavioral, emotional, psychiatric, or developmental challenges. The employee must be able to safely respond to emergencies, resident crises, and behavioral incidents as needed. Travel within the community and transportation of residents may be required. Evening, weekend, holiday, and overtime hours may be required based on operational needs.
