This role is the critical link between inbound raw material and the corrugator production line: without accurate, timely roll placement, the corrugator cannot run. The Clamp Truck Driver operates a roll clamp attachment-equipped powered industrial truck to unload inbound paper deliveries, verify receipt against purchase orders, inspect rolls for damage, store rolls in designated locations, and stage and place rolls at the corrugator roll stands per the production schedule.\nPaper rolls weigh between 1,500 and 5,000+ lbs and are handled exclusively by clamp truck. Precision clamping, controlled placement, and roll-stand loading require a high level of operator skill and spatial judgment. Mishandling at any stage — during unloading, storage, or placement — can damage rolls, create safety hazards, or cause corrugator downtime. notify the Corrugator Superintendent or purchasing contact and do not place damaged rolls into inventory without authorization\n Sign and date the bill of lading accurately; note any shortages, overages, or damaged rolls on the delivery receipt before the driver departs\n Complete the inbound receiving log for every delivery: carrier, PO number, roll count, grades received, and any discrepancies\n\nRoll Storage & Inventory Placement\n\n Transport received rolls from the receiving dock to designated storage locations in the paper roll warehouse or floor storage area\n Place rolls in assigned rack positions or floor storage rows per the storage layout — correct grade and width in correct location, every time\n Store rolls core-up in a stable, plumb position; never lean rolls against walls, equipment, or other rolls without designated lean storage\n Maintain FIFO (first in, first out) rotation within each grade and width — oldest rolls must be staged for production use first\n Keep storage aisles clear and marked storage positions organized; do not block sprinkler heads, fire exits, or electrical panels\n Conduct periodic inventory counts of roll storage as directed; report discrepancies between physical inventory and system records to the superintendent\n\nProduction Staging & Roll Stand Placement\n\n Review the corrugator production schedule at the start of each shift to understand upcoming paper requirements by grade, width, and flute position (liner vs. medium)\n Stage the correct rolls — in sequence — adjacent to the corrugator roll stands in advance of production need; never allow the corrugator to wait on paper\n Load rolls onto corrugator roll stands (splicer stands, single facer medium stand, liner stands) with precision: centered on the mandrel, core engaged, roll plumb and secure\n Confirm roll identity (grade, width, basis weight) against the run card before placing on the stand — wrong roll on the stand causes waste and potential quality failures\n Coordinate splice staging with the CR Operator and Single Facer Operator: have the next roll in position and ready before the running roll reaches its splice point\n Remove empty cores and spent roll remnants from the roll stands promptly; return cores to the designated core storage or disposal area\n\nRoll Condition Assessment\n\n Inspect every roll before placing it on the corrugator stand: check core integrity, roll roundness, wrapper condition, and any signs of moisture or damage sustained in storage\n Flag and pull any roll that shows core crush, out-of-round greater than acceptable tolerance, wet or soft spots, or wrapper damage exposing the sheet — do not place compromised rolls on the stand\n Communicate roll condition concerns to the CR Operator or Corrugator Superintendent before they affect the run\n Track and report recurring paper quality issues (consistent moisture, edge damage, telescoping from a specific supplier or shipment) to support purchasing follow-up\n\nEquipment Operation & Care\n\n Operate the roll clamp truck safely at all times: travel at safe speeds, observe pedestrian right-of-way, sound horn at intersections and blind corners\n Perform pre-shift equipment inspection (OSHA-required): brakes, horn, lights, forks/clamp attachment, hydraulics, tires, and fluid levels — complete and sign the inspection checklist\n Report any equipment defects discovered during pre-shift inspection or operation immediately; do not operate a defective truck\n Handle the clamp attachment with care: proper clamp pressure for roll diameter and weight — never over-clamp (crushes core) or under-clamp (drops roll)\n Keep the clamp truck fueled or charged per plant procedure; report battery or propane levels at end of shift\n Report all near-misses, equipment damage, or property contact incidents immediately — no exceptions\n\nHousekeeping & Dock Management\n\n Keep the receiving dock clear: remove packing materials, stretch wrap, damaged roll wrappers, and core debris promptly after each delivery\n Maintain roll storage aisles clean and free of trip hazards, spilled roll wrap, or loose materials\n Sweep or blow down the dock area and paper roll storage zone as part of shift housekeeping duties\n Ensure dock plates, dock levelers, and trailer chocks are used correctly for every inbound unloading operation\n Secure trailer wheels with wheel chocks and confirm trailer is chocked and glad-hand locked before beginning unloading\n\nSafety\n\n Maintain valid plant clamp truck certification at all times — operating without a valid certification is grounds for immediate removal from the role\n Never carry passengers on the clamp truck or allow personnel to stand beneath a raised load\n Maintain safe travel speed with loads; lower forks/clamp to travel height before moving\n Observe all pedestrian zones, designated traffic lanes, and posted speed limits within the plant\n Never place or lean paper rolls in a position that could tip, roll, or fall onto personnel or equipment\n Wear required PPE at all times: safety glasses, steel-toed footwear, high-visibility vest in dock and traffic areas\n Report all safety hazards, near-misses, and incidents to the Shift Supervisor immediately\n\nReporting & Communication\n\n Maintain the receiving log and roll placement log accurately for every shift\n Communicate paper inventory levels to the Corrugator Superintendent when any grade or width falls below a defined reorder threshold\n Notify the CR Operator immediately if a required roll for the production schedule is unavailable, damaged, or incorrect\n Brief the incoming driver at shift change: rolls staged at the corrugator, delivery status, any damaged or hold-tagged inventory, and open issues\n\nKey Working Relationships\nRole\nInterface\nCorrugator Superintendent\nPrimary supervisor; flags liner roll condition issues\nShift Supervisor\nReports safety incidents, equipment faults, inbound receiving discrepancies, and shift-level issues\nPurchasing / Procurement\nReports inbound discrepancies, damaged rolls, and supplier quality concerns for PO resolution and supplier follow-up\nInbound Carriers / Drivers\nManages unloading process;
