Research Coordinator I (Bilingual Spanish) - Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Job Title: Research Coordinator I (Bilingual Spanish) - Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Division: Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Work Arrangement: Hybrid Location: Houston, TX Salary Range: $39,150 - $46,059 FLSA Status: Nonexempt Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Summary The Research Coordinator I will play a key role in coordinating a study focused on the effects of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) on adolescent height growth suppression. This project is part of a new research project in the lab of Dr. Chadi Calarge. The Research Coordinator I will be responsible for preparing necessary research documentation, managing participant recruitment, and conducting research visits and data collection, among other essential duties. This position is based at Texas Children’s Hospital, located at 8080 N. Stadium Drive, Houston, TX 77054. The role may require travel to other locations, therefore a valid driver’s license is required. To accommodate the schedules of children and adolescent participants, occasional work outside of standard business hours (8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) may be required, including evenings or other times after school hours. This position serves Spanish-speaking populations; therefore, fluency in Spanish is essential. Job Duties Develop and prepare research materials, including forms, questionnaires, and study protocols. Administer surveys and forms using the web-based platform Qualtrics. Prepare and submit Institutional Review Board (IRB) applications and maintain all required regulatory documentation. Review patient lists from the Texas Children's Hospital System’s electronic medical record system to identify potential participants. Screen potential participants for eligibility and recruit them into the study. Advertise the study in psychiatric clinics outside the Texas Children's Hospital System if necessary, to meet recruitment goals. Schedule and conduct in-person research visits with participants. Coordinate necessary procedures such as hand and wrist radiographs and follow-up phone calls to collect data. Organize and maintain accurate records of study data. Conduct data quality checks to ensure the integrity of the research process. Assist with literature reviews to support ongoing research efforts. Contribute to manuscript preparation and publication of study findings. Performs other job duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School diploma or GED. Three years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field. No experience with preferrred degree. Bilingual (Spanish) fluency is essential, as this role regularly interacts with Spanish-speaking participants and families.
