Eligibility List Recruitment This recruitment is being conducted to establish an eligibility list that will be used to fill the current long-term substitute assignment and any vacancies that may occur during the life of the list, for up to one year. The eligibility list may also be used to fill future permanent, substitute, temporary, and long-term assignments. The current vacancy is a part-time long-term substitute assignment at Simi Valley High School, working 3.75 hours per day for an anticipated duration of approximately six months. Application Deadline Completed applications must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. on November 3, 2026. Late applications will not be accepted. Testing Process Multiple Choice Test = 40% weighting on final score; Tentatively scheduled for as early as the week of November 9, 2026. Structured Interview = 60% weighting on final score; Tentatively scheduled for as early as the week of November 16, 2026. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications stated in the job posting by the application deadline in order to move forward in the testing process. Those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to the multiple choice test. Those with the highest scores on the multiple choice test will be invited to the structured interview. The testing process is subject to change as needs dictate. Purpose Statement Under the general supervision of an assigned supervisor, the Associated Student Body (ASB) Assistant supports student engagement by performing a variety of clerical, customer service, and inventory-related duties. This position ensures consistent front-counter coverage for the Associated Student Body Office and operational support for the Student Store. Responsibilities include assisting with student activities and athletic events, processing payments, managing inventory, and providing logistical and communication support to strengthen student participation and campus service delivery. Office Support (Student Activities & Athletics) Provides consistent coverage at the ASB Office front counter and assists with daily operations, serving as the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors. Greets and assists students, staff, and community members with inquiries, forms, phone calls, emails, and general office or event-related services. Performs clerical duties including scheduling, maintaining records, and processing documents. Provides logistical support for student activities and athletic events, including setup, breakdown, and coordination. Prepares and distributes materials for school events such as rallies, dances, and recognition activities. Supports communications by creating flyers, announcements, and social media content. Student Store Operations Operates the Student Store during nutrition break, lunch, and other times as scheduled, may include special events and extended hours. Sells student-related items including spirit wear, school supplies, snacks, beverages, tickets, and other merchandise. Supports sales and promotional activities related to school events, pop-ups, and outreach efforts. Provides customer service and assists with line management during busy periods. Responds to customer inquiries regarding products, purchases, and student services. Follows cash handling procedures including balancing cash, preparing deposit forms, and securing funds. Monitors inventory levels, places reorders as needed and assists with restocking and organizing merchandise displays. Receives, inspects, and shelves deliveries to ensure inventory accuracy and availability. Conducts periodic inventory counts, identifies discrepancies, and reports variances. Recommends product selections based on sales trends, feedback, and seasonal needs. Trains and guides student workers in store procedures and customer service standards. Other Functions Performs other duties as assigned that support the overall objective of the position. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. One year of experience in either retail sales/cashiering or clerical, data entry, or administrative support. Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Skills to: Operate point-of-sale systems and standard office equipment. Perform accurate cashiering, cash reconciliation, and sales transactions. Deliver effective and courteous customer service. Create promotional materials using basic design or communication tools. Maintain and organize physical and digital records. Knowledge of: Retail and student store operations, including merchandising and inventory control. Electronic sales systems and general cashiering procedures. Student activity logistics and school event coordination. Clerical practices and basic office software (word processing, spreadsheets, email). Principles of basic accounting and fund reconciliation. Fundamentals of English grammar, spelling, and basic mathematical operations Ability to: Coordinate student store processes, activities, and services. Prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. Collaborate effectively with students, staff, parents, and vendors. Apply policies, procedures, and safety practices relevant to the Associated Student Body and school site. Train and provide guidance to student workers. Learn and adapt to new software, systems, or responsibilities as needed. Perform cashiering and customer service in a retail environment Respond to and resolve customer requests, inquiries, and complaints Working Environment Work is performed indoors and outdoors where minimal safety considerations exist. Regular interaction with students, staff, vendors, and community members. Physical activities include standing for extended periods, lifting and moving merchandise (up to 25 lbs.), and event set up. Environment may be fast paced during peak times, such as lunch periods, special sales events, and school functions.
