Requisition Requisition ID: 296198 Location & Work Details Relocation Authorized: National - Single Telework Type: Full-Time Office/Project Work Location: Chandler, AZ Job Summary Assigned to the Construction organization as a Construction Survey Technician (CST), responsible for providing field and office support as required to the construction survey team. The CST reports directly to the Survey Engineer/Party Chief (PC). The CST interprets design drawings and specifications to determine associated commodities and equipment locations and provides support to his/her assigned field survey team in support of the civil, structural, mechanical, and piping installations in the work area. #LI-BH1 Major Responsibilities Provide Construction Survey support to the PC and Project Survey Manager. Support the survey team's implementation of the project safety, quality, and environmental programs. Assist the PC with the accurate layout of construction work, recordation of field data according to job specifications and appropriate methods of performing survey activities. Perform duties of a Rod Person and/or Instrument Person on a direct-hire survey crew; operates the survey instrument(s), rod, staff, GNSS rover, and other survey implements as required in accordance with Bechtel survey procedures. Perform other duties as required in support of construction layout, laser scanning or other survey activities, including substituting for the PC during his/her absence. Assures that all survey equipment is in good working order and that instruments are properly transported. Assist the PC in providing support to both Field Engineering and Field Supervision. Assist the PC in developing and maintaining survey data. Performs Calibration Baseline checks of survey instruments. Supports the administration of the survey work request program. Assist the PC in providing civil project completion documentation including "As-Built" records. Assist in performing verifications of subcontract survey work. Education and Experience Requirements Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience. Required Knowledge and Skills Multi-Disciplined Field Engineering Survey experience with earthwork, excavation, concrete, structural steel, mechanical, and piping, etc. installation layout and verification. Knowledge of engineering and construction methods and processes customarily acquired over time through specialized instruction or practical experience. Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Incidents" safety program. Knowledge of Bechtel quality standards. Must have a solid record of successful project completion with little to zero rework. Knowledge of construction survey principles. Demonstrated ability to always maintain a safe work ethic and work environment. Demonstrated ability to work in a team-based environment, able to formulate a working relationship with survey team members, other departments, contractors, and survey functional management. Initiative-taker, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work on multiple work fronts, with excellent problem-solving ability. Displays effective communications skills crucial to understanding instructions and plans in a clear and concise manner. Demonstrated experience with Trimble Robotic Total Stations, Digital Levels & GNSS survey systems, and Access field software. Knowledge of data downloading. Intermediate level use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Must be physically capable to participate in project walkdowns, which may require the following activities: extensive walking in and around a construction site, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, walking on elevated platforms, walking on uneven surfaces, climbing in, or maneuvering around small and/or confined spaces, and lifting up to 40lbs without assistance. This project may have multiple work schedules that are subject to change and may require employees to work overtime, weekends and/or night shift when a business need arises. Preferred Qualifications Prior Bechtel Survey Mega-Project experience. Working knowledge of Bechtel construction procedures. CAD literate, experience w/CAD software a plus. Experience with providing survey support for UAV/Drone operations. Experience with 3D Laser Scanning hardware and software a plus. Experience with Metrology field & office activities a plus.
