Scope of Position

The Maintenance Engineer worker is responsible for responding to engineering and maintenance related guest issues. The position performs regular preventive maintenance and periodic servicing of equipment and systems as directed by their supervisor and performs repair and maintain activities within the facility and its equipment as able and directed by their supervisor.

Hourly Staff Schedule Requirements

All employees are kindly asked to understand that the property operation is 24 hours a day 7 days a week, inclusive of all holidays. While the company will make every attempt to create a work and life balance, all hourly paid team members may be asked to work extended shifts and additional days based on business demands. The busiest of days during the season (Memorial Day through Columbus Day) are the weekend days from Friday through Sunday and on holiday weekends that are celebrated on Mondays, this can include Mondays. All seasonal staff must be aware and able to work all weekends; requesting time off for a holiday weekend may not and will likely not be granted. The more flexible you are the more you can learn, grow, earn.

Reporting Relationship

Internal: This position reports to the Group Director of Engineering and in his absence the position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Complete required reports, logs and paperwork as directed by supervisor.
• Maintain room number confidentiality and key control.
• Respond to engineering and maintenance related guest issues.
• Perform regular preventive maintenance and periodic servicing of equipment and systems as directed by supervisor.
• Perform evaluations of engineering related issues and determine appropriate course of action to fix (internal or external).
• Repair and maintain facility and equipment as able and directed by supervisor.
• Obtain and maintain required certifications/licenses for position.
• Responsible for practicing, managing, and promoting the Company's Statement of Purpose, Service Excellence Pillars, and Declarations so that it becomes an intricate part of the everyday operation.
• Represent the Company with a positive attitude and professional presentation.
• Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to the Company's sustainability programs.
• Carry out any other duties which fall within the broad spirit, scope, and purpose of this job description and which are commensurate with the role.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, and Experience

• Excellent diagnostics and problem-solving skills.

• Shift Engineer Levels:
• Shift Engineer 1: Should have a high school degree or equivalent and 6 months of related work experience*
• Shift Engineer 2: Should have a high school degree and a minimum of 1 year of related work experience *
• Shift Engineer 3: Should have trade school in related field or equivalent and minimum of 2 years related work experience*
• Shift Engineer 4: Should have trade school in related field or equivalent and minimum of 3 years related work experience*
• Shift Engineer 5: Should have trade school in related field or equivalent and minimum of 5 years related work experience*

*(General maintenance experience in areas such as, but not limited to basic plumbing, basic electrical, basic HVAC, carpentry preferably in a hotel environment.
