Registered Nurse RN Emergency Department

Job Summary The Registered Nurse in our Emergency Department is a vital member of the multi‑professional care team, responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting nursing care of adult and pediatric patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing practice standards. Core Functions Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review histories, diagnostics, and laboratory data; report abnormal results to the appropriate caregivers. Formulate a patient‑specific plan of care, including discharge plans, based on assessment data and input from patients, families, and the health team; set realistic, measurable goals and revise the plan as patient needs change. Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health care team; comply with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; assess progress toward goals and adjust care plans accordingly. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record; ensure documentation is legible, timely, and reflects objective and subjective data. Provide evidence‑based care; participate in research, unit or facility shared leadership, and educational activities such as orientation and mentoring of staff. Contribute to patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care; engage in professional organizations and quality improvement initiatives. Supervise staff and manage workflow for the department when required. Collaborate with all levels of staff and external contacts, including clergy for spiritual support, to provide comprehensive care. Minimum Qualifications

• Current, valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim/compact RN license).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• At least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting, with the most recent 12 months spent as a registered nurse in the specialty area.
• Annual validation of clinical performance competencies.

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Professional certification relevant to the specialty.
