About the Role

The Company is seeking a Dean for its College of Arts and Sciences, a pivotal role in the academic and administrative leadership of the institution. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering an environment that promotes academic excellence, overseeing a diverse range of undergraduate and graduate programs, and managing a significant budget and faculty and staff. The Dean will be expected to provide strategic leadership, support faculty in their teaching and research endeavors, and champion student success. Additionally, the role involves strengthening the College's research productivity, and cultivating partnerships that enhance its impact both on campus and in the broader community. Candidates for the Dean position must hold an earned doctorate and have a distinguished record of scholarly, research, or creative accomplishment. A strong background in academic administration, with experience at a level of department chair, associate dean, director, or equivalent, is required. The ideal candidate will have an appreciation for the historic mission of HBCUs and land-grant institutions and the ability to effectively communicate its impact. While not mandatory, experience in a research-intensive university setting is of interest. The Dean will be at the forefront of the College's mission, which is deeply rooted in the values of teaching, research, and service, and is dedicated to the advancement of discovery, creativity, and interdisciplinary learning.
