Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in respiratory care and the ability to work independently in various patient care settings.

Shift Information

• Three 12-hour shifts, primarily nights (36 hours total)
• Every other weekend and holiday coverage as required

Responsibilities

• Independently manage invasive and non-invasive ventilation and perform arterial blood gas (ABG) analysis.
• Assist with intubations and airway management, ensuring optimal patient care.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment under the direction of the Technical Director of Respiratory Therapy and in response to physician requests.
• Function independently in various patient care areas, addressing and managing diverse challenges.

Patient Population

This position involves working with a diverse patient population, ranging from pediatric to geriatric patients.

Electronic Medical Record (EMR)

Experience with Cerner is required for this role.

Dress Code

Business casual or personal scrubs of any color are acceptable.

Orientation and Holiday Information

• Non-billable orientation of 8 hours is required.
• Must work during specified holiday blocks which include Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of current experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Current certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
• Ability to independently use ventilators, various Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) modalities, and high-flow oxygen.
• Willingness to learn new skills such as home sleep testing and pulmonary rehabilitation.
• Previous travel experience of at least 6 months is preferred.
• Must possess a valid Vermont RRT license.
• Must have a personal vehicle for transportation.

Additional Requirements

• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• All requests for time off must be clearly stated during the submission process; requests made after submission will not be considered.
• Attendance is critical; after three call-offs, a traveler's contract may be terminated.
