Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med/Surg Duration: 14 weeks Shift: Day/Night shift variable Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: One (1) Year Experience serving in a Med/Surg Environment as a Registered Nurse License: NYS RN Licensure Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS (AHA or RQI only), NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum one year experience in a Med/Surg environment as a registered nurse. - Current Client RN licensure. - BLS and ACLS certifications required. Description: The Registered Nurse applies knowledge of nursing theory, technical skills, and communication skills in delivering high-quality compassionate care to patients and families. The Registered Professional Nurse assesses patient needs, develops a plan of care in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, provides direct care, evaluates patient progress, and coordinates care delivery throughout the patient's episode. The RN develops specialized skills in caring for patients with medical conditions. He/She provides care to adult, adolescent, and geriatric populations with various medical conditions. The Registered Nurse is accountable for patient and family education to assist in understanding self-care beyond hospitalization, including lifestyle changes to support health and healing. The RN is expected to promote comfort and provide emotional support in a healing environment. Job Functions: Applies nursing knowledge and skills in the delivery of care. Assesses patient/family needs through active listening and social perceptiveness. Analyzes data or information obtained through direct observation, assessment, technology, or healthcare team communication. Creates a developmentally, age-appropriate, and culturally relevant individualized plan of care. Sets goals and monitors the patient's progress in collaboration with the patient, family, physician, and healthcare team members. Adjusts the plan based on patient response, condition changes, or reprioritization of needs. Promotes, advocates for, and protects the health, safety, and rights of the patient. Encourages mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members to achieve the best possible patient outcomes. Teaches others as appropriate and delegates tasks and interventions consistent with their education, training, and scope of practice. Understands personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies. Motivates patients and families by providing necessary information for continued care and healing at home. Assesses learning styles and structures education sessions to maximize understanding. Evaluates retention of key points in the self-care process. Documents education provided and the patient/family response. Evaluates the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and uses results to initiate changes in care delivery. Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas for professional development. Takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skills. Uses logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions. Nursing practice reflects the importance of making meaningful connections with patients and families. Seeks to develop trusting and caring relationships by being present in interactions. Listens, communicates, engages, and anticipates patient/family needs. Acknowledges that the patient and family are the central focus of all care. Creates a healing environment as a key element of professional nursing practice. Demonstrates skill in medication administration and other nursing interventions. Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is anticipated. Required tasks may involve contact with blood, body fluids, and tissues.
