Who YOU are and what YOU can become: The Quality Inspector is an entry‑level position responsible for performing basic inspections of aerospace components, assemblies, and materials under supervision. This role focuses on learning aerospace quality standards, inspection techniques, and documentation requirements while supporting compliance with AS9100, FAA, and customer specifications. We are also rapidly augmenting our maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) capabilities, leveraging an expanded aircraft nacelle portfolio as well as our materials and processing expertise. What YOU will do: Perform independent visual, mechanical, dimensional, and functional inspections of parts, assemblies, and finished products, including in‑process, final, and receiving inspections on directed parts, assemblies, and subassemblies. Verify dimensions, tolerances, materials, finishes, and configurations per engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Properly tag, label, and segregate nonconforming material. Ensure proper identification, traceability, and documentation of parts and materials. Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T to determine inspection requirements. Use a wide range of precision measuring instruments (including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMMs as applicable). Complete and review inspection documentation, nonconformance reports, and inspection records. Identify, document, and communicate quality issues and trends to other quality and production teams (including Leads, P1s, Quality Engineers, management, etc.). Review, validate, verify, and perform First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102. Ensure compliance with AS9100, FAA, customer, and internal quality requirements. Maintain inspection records in accordance with regulatory and company retention requirements. Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits. Assist with root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives. Provide guidance/assistance to Inspector B personnel as needed. Accurately document and report inspection results, nonconformances, and corrective actions in quality systems. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area. Participate and successfully complete training related to aerospace quality standards and inspection methods. Specified Functional Duties MACHINED PARTS AND WELDMENTS: Inspects highly complex parts, checking numerous dimensions, curves, and angles. Establishes reference points, uses precision instruments, and performs limited mathematical computations to verify interrelated dimensions. Inspects parts of average complexity, establishing procedures and facilitating inspection by standardizing check points. Checks component and overall dimensions, hole patterns, trim lines, fits, and parallelisms to verify workmanship and conformance to drawings and specifications. TOOL & CALIBRATION: Inspects tool, die, jig, or fixture utilizing precision measurements, performing limited mathematical computations, and verifies working points on surface tables. CHEMICAL: Performs simple chemical tests to determine nature of substance and interprets laboratory analysis to determine conformance. ASSEMBLY: Inspects all small parts, sub‑assemblies, and major assemblies for clearances, tightness, and proper alignment; analyses functional difficulties and recommends adjustments. PRODUCT SYSTEMS: Inspects sub‑assemblies and assemblies for conformance to specifications, clearances, fit tolerances, alignment, and security; evaluates inspection difficulties and recommends corrective action. BONDING: Inspects development and initial setup of prototype bonded honeycomb and/or metal assemblies, checks fit and clearances, and monitors bonding quality. FINISHING AND PLATING: Inspects metal detail parts for anodic and other plating processes, checks appearance, thickness, and adherence, and monitors finishing process for uniformity and adherence. What YOU must bring to Succeed: High school diploma or GED required. Must be 18 years or older. Technical school or vocational training in manufacturing, machining, or aerospace preferred. 0–2 years of manufacturing or quality‑related experience. Entry‑level candidates with production, assembly, or machining experience encouraged to apply. On‑the‑job training provided in AS9100, AS9102, and inspection techniques. Position involves access to export‑controlled technology; requires U.S. Person status or government authorization. Must provide valid proof of status. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and perform work duties for an extended period and perform hands‑on inspection tasks. Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Ability to work in various temperatures (warm, hot, cold, freezing) to complete warehouse tasks. Ability to work in an environment that includes dust and other debris. Must be able to successfully complete all medical surveillance requirements. Desired Characteristics Strong attention to detail and sound judgment in quality decisions. Knowledge of aerospace quality standards, GD&T, and inspection methods preferred. Knowledge and/or ability to learn and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T. Knowledge and/or ability to learn precision measuring and inspection techniques. Working knowledge of AS9100, AS9102, and aerospace quality requirements. Ability to independently identify nonconformances and recommend corrective actions. Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams. Must be able to successfully complete all job‑related eligible certifications and training requirements as assigned/directed. Must be able to obtain and maintain certified inspector operator certification. Basic computer and data entry skills. Attention to detail and willingness to learn. Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and specifications. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes. Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work with supervision and as part of a team.
