About the Organization Alaska Center for the Performing Arts has been a downtown landmark and icon for over 30 years. We are a non‑profit organization that operates, promotes, and maintains a four‑theatre complex serving as a social and cultural meeting place for all Alaskan residents, the visiting public, and performing‑arts presenters and producers. Position Maintenance Mechanic – Category: Maintenance, Employment: Full‑Time, Exempt: Non‑Exempt. Responsibilities Represent the Alaska Center for the Performing Arts (ACPA) as a frontline team member, modeling safe work practices while providing stellar customer service to internal and external clients. Perform inspections and make minor to moderately complex repairs to building systems, structures, and equipment such as HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems and door hardware to assure safe and efficient function. Monitor the performance of contractors and suppliers, store and issue materials, and operate power and hand tools in performing maintenance duties. Repair custodial equipment, perform welding as needed, and assist with custodial and safety program oversight related to HVAC, controls, fire, mechanical, and electrical systems. Maintain consistent and regular communication with the Facility Manager and other team members. Qualifications Five years of experience with building maintenance and construction. Two years of experience performing inspections of equipment and systems, exercising initiative without reliance on specific instructions. Ability to produce written reports of inspections and modifications. High School graduate or GED required. Must be able to read, write, and speak English, with solid verbal and written communication skills. Clean driving record for five years and successful background check required. Physical Demands of Position Stand, sit, and walk frequently. Stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as necessary. Lift or move 50 lbs.; move 100 lbs.; occasionally move 150 lbs.
