Join our school nutrition team as a Chef and help prepare fresh, nutritious meals that give students the energy to learn and thrive!Position Summary The Chef supports daily kitchen operations for K-12 school and residential dining accounts by preparing high-quality meals, following standardized recipes, and maintaining strict food safety and sanitation standards. This role works under the direction of the Chef Manager or General Manager in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and production schedulesEnsure compliance with USDA school nutrition guidelines (K-12 accounts) and client standards (residential accounts)Maintain proper food temperatures, labeling, dating, and storageAssist with meal service, serving lines, and special eventsFollow HACCP, food safety, and sanitation procedures at all timesMaintain clean, organized workstations and kitchen equipmentSupport inventory control, product rotation (FIFO), and waste reductionWork collaboratively to ensure timely, efficient meal serviceWork EnvironmentCommercial kitchen settingFast-paced, team-oriented environmentMay include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or school-year schedules (for K-12 accounts)Why Join Us?Competitive pay + opportunities for growthAbout Us:At Whitsons, we believe food has the power to transform a school day. Lifting while turning side to side is sometimes necessary.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.Work Environment:The work is performed primarily in a Cafeteria /Food Service establishment. Work is primarily "hands-on" during mealtimes. Office work is completed before or after mealtimes.
