Public Health Analyst

The position is located in the Department of Health (DOH), within the Community Health Administration (CHA), Cancer and Chronic Disease Prevention Bureau (CCDPB), Chronic Disease Division. This role focuses on nutrition, physical fitness promotion, cancer and chronic disease prevention, access to quality health care, and the health of families across the lifespan. The incumbent collaborates with program coordinators to provide project management expertise and serves as Program Evaluator, delivering evaluation and epidemiological support and using data‑driven approaches to assess program outcomes and activities. Major Duties and Responsibilities Develop strategic and operational plans, budgets, project plans, evaluation plans, and other administrative tools. Gather and analyze data to assess community needs, program effectiveness, and impact of policies. Develop program materials, position papers, policy documents, and presentations for internal and external audiences. Provide technical assistance and consultation related to data collection and reporting protocols, development of program‑specific performance measures, and evaluation designs. Write proposals and grant applications, submitting them in a timely manner. Establish and maintain partnerships and communication pathways with stakeholders—including providers, payers, policymakers, educators, and program administrators—and collaborate with other department programs to leverage activities. Serve as team leader or project manager on a multi‑agency basis. Prepare periodic and ad‑hoc reports on program activities and performance for submission to District and federal agencies. Develop communication campaigns and educational materials on disease prevention and control for health professionals and the public. Qualifications and Education Specialized experience that equates to at least one year of the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression. A Master’s level degree in Public Health, Epidemiology, or Statistics from an accredited college/university is strongly preferred. At least three years of experience in public health, health care administration, project management, or quality improvement is strongly preferred. Extensive experience with statistical software for data management and analysis; working knowledge of packages such as SAS is strongly preferred. Licenses and Certifications None required. Working Conditions / Environment Work is generally performed in an office setting. The incumbent may also work in community venues to conduct training of individuals and organizations in the District of Columbia and may be exposed to individuals with contagious diseases.
