Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

Scheduling Details

Shift Hours: 7a-7p or 7p-7a Contract Length: 13 weeks Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend Holiday Requirement: Must be available to work every other holiday if needed

Charting Requirements

• EPIC experience required; Non-Epic - CPN/GE Centricity
• Requests for time off (RTO), block, and special scheduling must be submitted upon application
• The client may cancel (call off) up to three shifts during the 13-week contract period without incurring charges for the canceled hours

Licensure and Certifications

• Must have an active New York Single State RN or LPN license (pending licenses not accepted; New York is not compact)
• Required Certifications: OB-ACLS or ACLS, BLS, EFM certification, NRP

Clinical Skills

• Assist with vaginal delivery.
• Circulate for C-section and recover C-section.
• Manage Magnesium Sulfate therapy and Pitocin (Oxytocin, Terbutaline).
• Perform APGAR scoring and provide "Baby Nurse" duties, including ID/Security banding.
• Utilize radiant warmers and ensure thermoregulation for newborns.
• Insert/manage Foley catheters and care for fundus, lochia, and perineum.
• Monitor and address postpartum hemorrhage and pregnancy-induced hypertension.
• Conduct Non-Stress Tests (NST) and use External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM).
• Perform Intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement and calibration.

Unit Details

All pregnant patients at any gestational age are accepted for care. Triage evaluates all pregnant patients and all postpartum patients within six weeks of delivery. Key equipment includes GE Fetal & Telemetry Monitors, "Monica" wireless fetal monitoring, Neopuff, and Draeger newborn warmers. Nurses may be required to float within their skillset.

Additional Information

Scrub color will be provided by the facility. The Labor & Delivery unit emphasizes private birthing suites, advanced monitoring, and family-centered care, with a focus on both OB and midwifery practices.
