Software Engineer Intern (Payment Network) - Global Payment - 2026 Summer(BS/MS)

The Global Payment team of Bytedance provides payment solutions including payment acquisitions, disbursements, transaction monitoring, payment method management, foreign exchange conversion, accounting, reconciliations, and related services to ensure a smooth and secure payment experience for users on ByteDance platforms such as TikTok. This internship runs for 12 weeks during Summer 2026 and offers students hands‑on experience in developing software and payment‑network technologies. Responsibilities Build general service capabilities for the payment network. Develop a payment instruction orchestration engine. Optimize the smart channel router to select the optimal channel using machine learning or rules. Upgrade the core channel payment system to support high volumes, high availability, and flexible handling of abnormal transactions. Improve smart operation for monitoring, analysis, attribution, and semi‑automatic handling of online issues. Develop high‑quality software design and architecture. Identify, prioritize and execute tasks in the software development life cycle. Develop tools and applications by producing clean, efficient code. Automate tasks through appropriate tools and scripting. Review and debug code; perform validation and verification testing. Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to fix and improve products. Document development phases and monitor systems. Ensure software stays up to date with the latest technologies. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Currently pursuing an Undergraduate, Graduate, or Master’s degree. Software development experience in one or more general‑purpose programming languages such as Java, Go, C++, C#, or Python. Excellent proficiency in backend server development and expertise in relational databases. Strong analytical thinking and exceptional attention to detail. Able to commit to working 12 weeks during Summer 2026. Preferred Qualifications Relevant internship experience with hands‑on exposure to the tech stack. Basic understanding of the payment industry and risk vendors. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate range for this position in the selected city: $42.75‑$57.
