Position: Showroom Assistant

Location: Costa Mesa, CA

Job Type: Full-Time / Part-Time [Negotiable for College Students]

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Company Description: Hart's Rugs & Carpets is a family-owned, full-service flooring firm opened since 1978 that specializes in mid-range to high-end area rugs, wall to wall carpeting and hardwood floor coverings, offering custom, made-to-order designs alongside professional, in-house installation services. Our ~9,000-square-foot showroom houses an extensive collection of carpet and rug styles, in-stock pieces and custom area rug samples available to check out for active design projects.

Role Description: We are seeking a reliable and organized Showroom Assistant to support the daily operations of our flooring and rug showroom. This is a hands-on position that helps keep the showroom, warehouse, and sales team running efficiently. There will be a training period for the right candidate and opportunities for growth and increased responsibilities based on performance and business needs.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Maintain the showroom by organizing samples, returning "go-backs," and keeping displays neat and presentable.

• Assist the Lead Sales Associate with day-to-day tasks that support the sales process.

• Label and organize new showroom samples.

• Move, flip, and position rugs for client presentations.

• Assist with warehouse duties, including unloading rug shipments, moving inventory, and preparing rugs and sample sets for shipping.

• Help with opening and closing procedures and other general operational tasks as needed such as light janitorial duties, including emptying trash, vacuuming, and restocking paper towel dispensers.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally and courteously with diverse clients and team members.

• Comfortable working in both the showroom and warehouse environments. Prior experience in showrooms, retail sales, or sales environments, preferably in home décor, flooring, or related industries are a plus.

• Able to lift 50-75 pounds unassisted and perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, and standing throughout the day.

• Ability to learn product details and explain options clearly, including materials, durability, and care requirements.

• Maintains a positive, professional attitude and adapts well to changing priorities.

• Basic computer and point-of-sale skills, with comfort handling transactions and maintaining accurate records.

• Reliable time management, attention to detail, and willingness to learn and take direction.
