The Expeditor plays a crucial role in supporting efficient and timely procurement operations at Martin. They are responsible for expediting orders, tracking shipments, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials and supplies. The Expeditor collaborates closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to maintain effective communication and resolve any issues that may arise during the procurement process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Expedite and track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies.
- Communicate with suppliers to obtain updates on order status, resolve delivery issues, and ensure adherence to agreed-upon timelines.
- Monitor supplier performance to ensure compliance with delivery schedules and quality standards.
- Coordinate with internal departments, such as Production, Warehouse, and Logistics, to facilitate the smooth flow of materials and resolve any logistical challenges.
- Act as a liaison between suppliers and internal stakeholders, providing regular updates and addressing any concerns or issues.
- Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including order status, delivery dates, and any delays or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the Procurement Manager or Supply Chain Manager to identify and address potential supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Identify opportunities to streamline the procurement process and improve efficiency, proposing process enhancements or automation solutions.
- Participate in supplier performance evaluations and contribute to the development of strong supplier relationships.
- Stay informed about industry trends, new product offerings, and changes in market conditions that may impact procurement activities.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certifications in supply chain or procurement is a plus.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and practices.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in using relevant software and tools for order tracking and expediting.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and logistics operations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
