Senior Legal Technician

Job Overview This is a 12‑month limited‑term appointment with the possibility of becoming permanent. The California Department of Justice seeks to hire a Senior Legal Technician (Legal Secretary) to join a "POD" of legal support personnel to support attorneys in the Antitrust Section. The Senior Legal Technician is supervised by the POD Legal Support Manager and will perform complex secretarial duties for a group of attorneys assigned to a particular POD. Key Responsibilities Verify legal citations, compose correspondence, and manage mail. Maintain case databases and track court calendars and due dates. Field calls from the public and contact court personnel and opposing parties. Communicate with vendors, manage documents in ProLaw, and make travel arrangements. Perform other secretarial tasks as required. Position Details Working Title: Senior Legal Technician Classification: LEGAL SECRETARY Salary: Range A: $4,371.00 – $5,473.00; Range B: $4,591.00 – $5,748.00 Location: United States (hybrid telework) Job Type: 12 Month Limited Term – Full Time Work Shift: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, Monday – Friday Department Information: Legal Secretaries in San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego, Oakland, Sacramento, and Fresno qualify for "Hire Above Minimum" (HAM). Senior Legal Typists also qualify for HAM in the above locations. Position is located in the Division of Administrative Services Legal Support Operations – Antitrust Section (Statewide). New‑to‑State employees receive the minimum salary of Range A unless alternate range criteria apply. Current state employees receive salary in accordance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
