Bellmore Dermatology is seeking an experienced, dependable, and personable  Medical Assistant to join our team full-time. We are looking for someone who is confident in both clinical and administrative responsibilities and enjoys working as part of a busy, team-oriented dermatology practice.

The ideal candidate will have prior Medical Assistant experience and be comfortable assisting with front desk responsibilities when needed.  Experience with prior authorizations, particularly for biologic therapies and prescription medications, is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain/update medical histories
• Document medications, allergies, and reason for visit
• Assist providers during examinations and dermatologic procedures
• Set up and clean procedure rooms
• Prepare instruments and supplies for procedures
• Assist with biopsies, excisions, injections, and other in-office treatments
• Provide patients with appropriate aftercare instructions
• Process prescription and medication requests as directed
• Submit and follow up on  prior authorizations for medications and biologics
• Communicate with pharmacies, insurance companies, specialty pharmacies, and patients regarding authorization status
• Assist with incoming calls, scheduling, patient check-in/check-out, and other front desk responsibilities as needed
• Maintain accurate and organized patient documentation
• Help maintain appropriate clinical inventory and supplies
• Follow HIPAA, OSHA, and office policies and procedures

What We’re Looking For

• Previous Medical Assistant experience required;  dermatology experience is strongly preferred
• Prior authorization experience preferred, especially with  biologics and specialty medications
• Comfortable working both clinically and administratively
• Excellent communication and patient-service skills
• Friendly, professional, and compassionate demeanor
• Dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented
• Able to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
• A positive attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
• Most importantly, someone who is a  team player and works well with providers, coworkers, and patients

Schedule & Compensation

This is a  full-time position . Compensation is competitive and will be based on experience, qualifications, and the candidate’s ability to fulfill the responsibilities of the role.  We are flexible and willing to offer competitive compensation for a candidate who brings strong dermatology, clinical, and prior authorization experience.
