Job Opportunity

Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)

Shift: Day - 5x8 Hour Shifts (10:00 AM - 6:30 PM)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Operating Room Registered Nurse to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience in scrub and circulating roles, particularly in Gynecology, General Surgery, and Orthopedics. This position is essential in providing high-quality care to patients undergoing surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure a safe and efficient operating room environment.
• Administer medications and maintain patient safety during procedures.
• Perform duties as a scrub nurse for various surgical specialties including GYN, General, and Orthopedic surgeries.
• Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs before, during, and after surgical procedures.
• Assist with infection control measures and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
• Participate in emergency management procedures as needed.
• Provide patient education and support to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduated from an accredited nursing program.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in an operating room setting is required.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications are preferred.
• Patient Ratio Experience: 1:1.

Skills and Competencies

Preferred skills include:

• Proficient in surgical procedures such as abdominal/vaginal hysterectomy, C-sections, and laparoscopic assisted surgeries.
• Knowledge of equipment and instrumentation used in the operating room setting.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams including Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, and Social Services.

Work Environment

The Operating Room features:

• Daily patient census: 12.
• Number of surgical rooms: 4.
• Patient age groups: Adolescents, Adults, and Geriatrics.

Orientation

New employees will undergo a 30-hour orientation period to familiarize themselves with hospital protocols and procedures.
