Senior Big Data Engineer

Essential functions


• Develop and maintain scalable, cloud-native data processing solutions using Scala, Python, and Apache Spark.

• Design and implement distributed computing pipelines optimized for handling multi-terabyte datasets.

• Build and manage large-scale data systems using Apache Iceberg tables on Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud infrastructure.

• Optimize Spark applications and distributed workflows to maximize performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency in a cloud environment.

• Architect and deliver end-to-end solutions tailored for cloud-native ecosystems with a focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance.

• Perform system design, development, and optimization of data pipelines, ensuring best practices in distributed data processing.

Qualifications


• Master of Science degree in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.

• At least ONE (1) year of experience in the job offered or at least ONE (1) year of experience in the following:

1. Data modeling and data transformation techniques for analytics and data processing

2. Debugging and performance optimization of distributed data applications

3. Programming languages: Scala, Python

4. Apache Spark for large-scale data processing

5. SQL and NoSQL databases for scalable data storage and retrieval

6. Airflow for data pipelines and workflow management

7. HDFS for storing large-scale data

8. Docker for containerization & orchestration

9. Apache Iceberg
