R&D - Electrical Engineer Technician

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks an R&D Electrical Engineer Technician to provide hands-on technical support for prototype development, testing, and troubleshooting of cold storage and laboratory equipment. The role involves building electrical and electromechanical systems, executing reliability evaluations, and collaborating with engineering teams throughout product development.
Responsibilities
- Build, wire, modify, and troubleshoot prototype electrical and electromechanical systems for laboratory equipment
- Assemble test fixtures, wiring harnesses, control panels, and instrumentation per engineering specifications
- Set up and execute electrical, functional, performance, and reliability tests at component and product levels
- Troubleshoot failures and assist engineers with testing and evaluation activities
- Configure data acquisition systems and maintain accurate test records and documentation
Requirements
- Hands-on experience building, wiring, and troubleshooting electrical and electromechanical prototypes
- Proficiency with electrical test equipment: oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, data loggers
- Knowledge of AC/DC circuits, relays, transformers, power conversion, and motor control circuits
- Ability to read and work from engineering drawings, schematics, and technical instructions
- Experience with soldering and rework of through-hole and surface-mount electronics
- Familiarity with test procedures, data acquisition, and technical documentation practices
