Staff Accountant |AP Specialist

Randstad is recruiting for a temporary role for a Staff Accountant.  The client is located in the West End of Louisville.  Position will be 100% in office. We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive financial professional to join our client's team. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of their organization's day-to-day financial activities, with a primary focus on balance sheet cleanup and assisting with grant administration. The ideal candidate will blend traditional accounting expertise with a forward-thinking mindset, helping to streamline processes, maintain impeccable financial records, and support the mission.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience).

• Technical Skills: * Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel).
  • Ability to develop and integrate AI applications to enhance and automate accounting workflows.

salary: $24 - $28.84 per hour

Responsibilities

• Balance Sheet Cleanup (Core Focus): Lead and assist with extensive balance sheet account cleanup; reconcile various balance sheet accounts on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, with a heavy emphasis on Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR).
• Grants & Funding Administration (Core Focus): Provide dedicated assistance with grants billing, reporting, tracking, and processing to ensure strict compliance with funding guidelines.
• Accounts Payable Management: Support AP functions while actively identifying opportunities to improve workflow and process efficiencies.
• General Ledger Maintenance: Prepare, review, and accurately enter approved journal entries.
• Banking Operations: Create and upload reports for Electronic Funds Transfers (EFTs) and manage the positive pay program to prevent fraud.
• Partner Support: Provide exceptional customer service to both internal departments and external partners regarding receivables and financial inquiries.
• Audit Preparation: Support the annual audit process by preparing requested audit schedules and providing necessary documentation.
• Internal Controls: Assist in identifying deficiencies in internal controls and help develop compensating or alternative controls to strengthen financial oversight.
• Process Optimization: Continuously seek out innovative improvements to accelerate and enhance the billing and cash application processes.
• Special Projects: Complete other financial, analytical, and administrative projects as assigned.
