AVP – Finance & Accounting AI Enablement | Hybrid NYC | Financial Services

A leading global financial services firm is seeking an AVP to join its Strategic Change / Finance Transformation team, focused on the adoption of automation and AI across Finance . This role is ideal for an accounting professional looking to leverage their technical accounting and controls background while gaining meaningful exposure to AI, automation, and transformation initiatives.

The position will work across Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Risk, and Technology , helping ensure automated and AI-enabled processes produce accurate, controlled, and audit-ready financial outputs.

Responsibilities

• Own and review key reconciliations, variance analysis, and financial outputs across Finance.
• Review automated and AI-generated calculations for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate accounting treatment.
• Execute and document financial controls and maintain audit-ready supporting evidence.
• Investigate exceptions and discrepancies and coordinate remediation with Finance leadership.
• Support internal and external audits, including walkthroughs, control documentation, and audit requests.
• Identify accounting and control risks associated with new technology and process changes.
• Partner with automation and technology teams to ensure appropriate controls and accounting requirements are built into new workflows.
• Work cross-functionally with Accounting, Tax, Treasury, Risk, HR, Payroll, and Technology.
• Help determine when new automated processes are ready to be implemented across Finance.

Qualifications

• 3–8+ years of accounting, finance, controllership, controls, or audit experience.
• Strong financial accounting, reconciliation, and financial controls knowledge.
• Experience supporting internal or external audits.
• Strong accounting judgment and ability to critically evaluate financial outputs.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• CPA or similar accounting qualification is a plus.
• Financial services experience is preferred.
• Exposure to Finance Transformation, automation, AI, or systems including Oracle, Essbase, Tableau, Workiva/Wdesk, or Kyriba is beneficial.
