Job Description Job Description SUMMARY Under the direction of the Customer Service Supervisor, the Warehouse Worker works with heavy equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks, to move incoming/outgoing freight. Must be able to lift and carry heavy objects and work in hot or cold weather. The warehouse worker completes paperwork, ensures tasks are completed safely and on time, and must make decisions regarding the transfer of incoming and outgoing inventory. The warehouse worker should be alert, ambitious, hard-working, detail-oriented, and able to follow instructions. This position will also serve as backup support for Customer Service. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time. · Picking inventory from the warehouse and safely transporting materials to the shipping bay. · Receiving and documenting merchandise for delivery or return.· Basic computer skills, including Microsoft outlook and the inventory system in place at GSI. · Recording inbound product with shipping documents to ensure correct materials are entering and leaving the warehouse. · Identifying any missing, lost or damaged materials and immediately notifying the supervisor. · Ensuring that all the merchandise is safely and securely packed and labeled for shipping. · Managing all merchandise with appropriate care and safety measures. · Reviewing paperwork to ensure products are shipped to the right destination. · Back up Customer Service as needed: o Answer incoming customer telephone calls. o Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers by ensuring the best possible customer satisfaction. o Obtain accurate information to process orders and delivery. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE · High school diploma or GED required. · 6–12 months of related warehouse experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. · Prior warehouse experience preferred. · Forklift experience required. · Ability to stand and work on your feet for up to 8 hours. · Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds. · Ability to work independently while maintaining a strong focus on safety. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. COMPUTER SKILLS Demonstrate the ability to effectively use the computer system in place at GSI. REASONING ABILITY Use practical reasoning to address day-to-day situations and anticipate potential issues before they arise. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods of time. The position involves frequent use of hands to handle, move, and operate materials and equipment. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, and occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or climb.
