Engineer, Provisioning

Job Summary In this role, the engineer contributes to the full systems engineering lifecycle by developing scalable, high‑quality solutions for customer premises equipment (CPE) activation. Responsibilities include assisting in the design, deployment, and upkeep of carrier‑grade provisioning systems, operations applications, and the databases and operating systems that support them. The engineer also acts as the Application Administrator for the operations, provisioning, and CPE activation platforms that underpin the infrastructure for all of Breezeline and Cogeco. Overseeing the regional provisioning landscape, the Provisioning Engineer manages, maintains, and continuously monitors HSD provisioning systems, including associated PON and HSD service platforms. The role requires a deep understanding of Cable TV infrastructure, HSD environments, and network troubleshooting, alongside proficiency in protocols like DOCSIS, DHCP, and TFTP. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously while applying superior troubleshooting expertise to ensure system reliability. Job Responsibilities Installs, administers, configures and maintains CPE activation, provisioning, and operations applications including operating systems and related software Provides 'on call' support to resolve CPE activation, provisioning, and operations application issues after normal business hours Monitors and manages full stack Incognito provisioning Monitors and manages Cisco PNR, RDU DOCSIS provisioning Monitors and manages regional IP assignment and usage as related to HSD services Proactively anticipates service needs and changes and reacts accordingly Works with other team members to provide support and backup Assists with the development, analysis, configuration, and implementation of service changes Planned projects, including cost analysis and timeline estimates Works with other regional teams such as TechOps, TAC, ASG and BSG in troubleshooting one-off and regional service issues Works with other regional engineers in testing of new products and services Works with vendors and other third-parties as necessary for product support and integration Participates in future technology direction discussions leveraging experience and active research Documents systems and application design and configuration Participates in off‑hours maintenance as necessary Job Qualifications 5+ years in the Cable/MSO environment or similar industry Good understanding of DOCSIS, IP Video, and Packet Cable Understanding of eMTA, cable modems and ONT/ONU operations Knowledge of control platforms (DAC, CMTS, OLT, vCMTS) Good understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 Strong knowledge of troubleshooting tools (e.g., tcpdump, netstat, iostat, traceroute, snoop) Solid understanding of LAN/WAN topology, network protocols (TCP/IP, FTP, NFS), switches, firewalls, and load balancers Comprehension of DHCP, DNS, SNMP, and TFTP protocols Strong working experience with DOCSIS provisioning Understanding of Cable RF infrastructure, specifically how this relates to DOCSIS Understanding of network connectivity and troubleshooting Availability to resolve urgent provisioning environment problems outside of business hours Clear and effective communication skills, both written and spoken Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment Exceptional troubleshooting, analytical and technical aptitude Great organizational, time management, and problem‑solving skills Experience working in a fast‑paced Agile environment Experience with daily operation of Cisco CNR/PRN and RDU/PCP Experience with Incognito ecosystem Experience building and understanding Cable Modem configuration files Experience activating/maintaining CPE per the DOCSIS, PacketCable, and SNMP specifications Experience with configuration of CPE using TR‑069 and related specifications Experience with MySQL, Perl, PHP, BASH, Tomcat, Apache, NGINX Experience with PacketCable and SIP Experience with SNMP Experience with troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark Advanced experience with Linux‑based servers and VM technologies Experience with MySQL, MongoDB, MariaDB Scripting/coding experience preferred (Bash, Python, JSON, YAML, XML) AI automation experience, Google‑based tools Experience with Pacemaker, fence, Kafka, RabbitMQ Benefits Competitive salary Medical coverage (including prescription and vision plans) Dental coverage Life Insurance (1x salary at no cost to employee) Long and short‑term disability insurance (no cost to employee) Voluntary employee, spousal, and child life insurance Company recognized Holidays with additional Floating Holidays Paid Time Off (PTO) programs Comprehensive Flex Work Policy 401(k) plan eligibility (company match 50% up to 5% of eligible contributions) Participation in the Employee Bonus Plan Participation in the Cogeco Stock Purchase Plan Complimentary and discounted broadband services (for those in our service area) Tuition Reimbursement Headspace Membership Opportunities for LinkedIn Learning subscriptions for select colleagues Salary and Location For candidates whose primary place of work will be in Massachusetts, the expected salary range for this specific position is $85,600 – $128,400. For candidates whose primary place of work will be in Maryland, the expected salary range for this specific position is $85,600 – $128,400. For candidates whose primary place of work will be in Cleveland, OH, the expected salary range for this specific position is $77,800 – $116,800. This range represents the annual salary or hourly wage that Breezeline expects to pay for this position at the time of this posting.
