Registered Nurse IMC/PCU/Stepdown (Neuroscience/High-Risk Respiratory)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide professional skilled nursing care to a diverse intermediate care patient population, including patients with cerebrovascular accident (CVA), transient ischemic attack (TIA), seizures, and other neurological conditions.
• Operate within a mixed-acuity unit (medical-surgical/intermediate care) that may function as a high-risk respiratory unit; care for patients requiring heated high-flow oxygen and BiPAP support.
• Participate in a team nursing model where RNs, LPNs, and PCTs partner together to care for a group of patients, dividing workload to improve patient outcomes; may also function in a primary nursing model depending on unit needs.
• Maintain targeted patient ratios of 1:46; prior documented 1:5 ratio experience in SD or PCU is required and must be reflected in work history.
• Float within specialty clusters as directed, which may include other campuses within a 15-mile radius of the main campus, including high-risk respiratory and COVID units.
• Complete and pass an online EKG/telemetry competency assessment and required lab work within 72 hours of contract signing.

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license (any active state license or compact license accepted).
• Documented SD or PCU experience with 1:5 patient ratio reflected in work history ICU experience does not substitute for SD/PCU experience at this facility.
• Ventilator experience required.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIH Stroke Scale certification required.
• Proficiency with Epic EMR required.
• Availability to work every other weekend and every other holiday.
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local travelers are not accepted.

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior travel nursing experience preferred.
• IV start certification preferred.
• Experience with heated high-flow oxygen therapy and BiPAP management.
• Comfort with floating to various units, including neurology ICU, based on skill set and census needs.
