Respiratory Therapist

Location: Hollywood, Florida

Patients depend on our team for the best in evidence-based care and innovative therapies, such as inhaled nitric oxide, high-frequency oscillation, and invasive and non-invasive ventilator support modalities. Opportunities exist for motivated Registered Respiratory Therapists (and Certified Respiratory Therapy Technicians) with the skills to provide a high level of quality service in a variety of settings including the ED, Trauma and Critical Care.

Serves as resource and mentor for less experienced therapists providing care for patients with cardiopulmonary disorders.

Responsibilities:

Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment. Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources. Assists with providing staff education. Maintains requirements of Clinical Ladder. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition as appropriate. Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.

Competencies: ACCOUNTABILITY, ARTERIAL BLOOD GAS SAMPLING - ARTERIAL PUNCTURE, ARTIFICIAL AIRWAY CARE/MAINTENANCE, CUSTOMER SERVICE, HFNC/VAPOTHERM, MECHANICAL VENTILATION WEANING/PULMONARY MECHANICS, NON-INVASIVE POSITIVE PRESSURE VENTILATION (NIPPV), PATIENT AND FAMILY CENTERED CARE, RESPONDING TO CHANGE, STANDARDS OF BEHAVIOR

Education and Certification Requirements:

Accredited Program: Respiratory Therapy (Required) BLS American Heart E-Card (BLS AHA ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS American Heart RQI E-Card (BLS AHA-RQI ECARD) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Cert American Heart_non ecard (BLS AHA) - American Heart Association (AMERICAN HEART), BLS Certification Grace (BLS GRACE) - Employee Grace Period for Essential Credential (GRACE), BLS Cert Red Cross (BLS RC) - Red Cross (RED CROSS), Certified Respiratory Therapist (TT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL), Registered Respiratory Therapist (RT LICENSE) - State of Florida (FL)

Additional Job Information:

Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, effective communication skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Required Work Experience: Two (2) years of clinical experience with one (1) year in an area of specialty. Other Information: Additional Education Info: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Additional Credential Info: Can be licensed as RT or TT. National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) credential is preferred. Department Specific Credentials: Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) for NICU,- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) for Pediatric areas- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for Adult areas.
