Medical Director Veterinarian

Introduction
Our client is a hospital providing veterinary care for dogs, cats, exotic pets, pocket pets, and reptiles in Westford, Massachusetts, and is seeking an experienced Medical Director to join the team on a full-time basis. The hospital has served the local community since 2011 and provides small animal general practice and exotic pet care within a collaborative, Fear Free environment.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Medical Director will serve as the clinical leader and medical voice of the hospital, setting standards for medical quality, patient care, client experience, and team culture while maintaining an active clinical role. Responsibilities include delivering high-quality medicine, mentoring and developing associate veterinarians, and fostering an environment centered on quality, compassion, and teamwork. The clinical caseload averages approximately 14 patients per day and includes a mix of wellness care and surgery, with services spanning preventive care, dentistry, diagnostics, imaging, anesthesia, surgery, and end-of-life care. This position is specifically for an experienced veterinarian.

Practice Details
The hospital is a well-established facility with a 4.7-star Google rating and a focus on Fear Free medicine. Clinical equipment includes digital X-ray, dental X-ray, in-house laboratory capabilities, and monitoring equipment, with access to a traveling ultrasonographer and cardiologist. Services include wellness examinations, vaccinations, dental care, diagnostics and imaging, parasite prevention, deworming, surgery, anesthesia, and end-of-life care, with same-day appointment slots reserved for patients requiring more urgent attention. The hospital is open Monday and Wednesday from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and every other Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Team
The hospital has three DVMs and a great tenured support team, maintaining a ratio of two support staff members per DVM. The experienced team works collaboratively and is focused on practicing Fear Free medicine, with an emphasis on education, communication, mentorship, and delivering high-quality patient care.

Candidate Requirements

• Must hold the relevant degree(s) and additional qualifications to work as a veterinarian in the United States of America (USA)
• Must hold, be in the process of, or be able to obtain, a state license for the state they are applying to work in
• Must have the right to work in the United States of America (USA), or be able to obtain the required visa to do so
