Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN

Medical City Healthcare is seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) PRN to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team, providing high-quality respiratory care to patients across a variety of acute and critical care settings. As a PRN therapist, you will work flexible, as-needed shifts to support patient care needs, collaborating closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to deliver safe and effective respiratory treatments.

In this role, you will assess, plan, and implement individualized respiratory care plans for patients with acute and chronic cardiopulmonary conditions. You will perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures such as oxygen therapy, aerosolized medication delivery, chest physiotherapy, airway clearance techniques, non-invasive ventilation setup and management, and ventilator initiation, monitoring, and weaning according to established protocols and provider orders. You will interpret arterial blood gases and other diagnostic data to help guide clinical decision-making and adjust therapies based on patient response and evidence-based practice.

The Registered Respiratory Therapist PRN will respond rapidly to respiratory emergencies, including code blues, rapid response calls, and airway management situations, assisting with endotracheal intubation and advanced airway support as permitted by hospital policy and state regulations. You will ensure accurate documentation of all assessments, treatments, and patient responses in the electronic medical record, maintain equipment functionality and cleanliness, and adhere strictly to infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards.

You will regularly educate patients and families on respiratory therapies, home-care equipment use, and disease management strategies for conditions such as COPD, asthma, pneumonia, and heart failure, using clear, compassionate communication tailored to each patient’s needs and understanding. Working within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment, you will participate in patient care rounds, contribute to care planning, and communicate changes in patient status promptly and professionally.
