Simply Great Staffing is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist for a well-established manufacturing and distribution company in Kent, WA.

This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who thrives on accuracy, confidentiality, and problem-solving. In this role, you'll be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, employee support, payroll audits, compliance, and reporting. You'll serve as a trusted resource for employees and management while helping ensure payroll is processed accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end multi-state biweekly payroll for hourly employees.
• Ensure accurate calculation and withholding of federal, state, and local taxes.
• Administer payroll deductions including medical benefits, 401(k) contributions, and garnishments.
• Maintain employee payroll records including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, department transfers, and other employee data updates.
• Perform pre-payroll and post-payroll audits to verify hours worked, wage adjustments, retroactive pay calculations, and payroll accuracy.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions and issue resolution.
• Generate payroll, labor distribution, attendance, and related reports for management, accounting, and human resources.
• Provide backup support for salaried payroll processing.
• Assist with Canadian payroll processing as needed.
• Participate in special projects and additional duties assigned by the Payroll Manager.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of payroll processing experience preferred.
• Strong experience processing multi-state payroll.
• Thorough knowledge of payroll compliance, payroll taxes, wage and hour regulations, and payroll best practices.
• Excellent data entry, 10-key, and mathematical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software applications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines independently.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with automated timekeeping or time collection systems.
• Experience processing multi-union payroll.
• Experience processing payroll for organizations with 250+ employees.
• Experience with Dayforce and DOS systems.
• Familiarity with garnishment administration and payroll reporting requirements.
• Experience supporting Canadian payroll is a plus.
