Salary: $16.79/hour
Barr-Reeve Community Schools is accepting applications for a School Cook. This is a part-time position scheduled for 5.5 hours per day, 185 days per year, aligned with the student instructional calendar.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The following duties are considered essential functions of this position.
- Follows all federal and state regulations for the National School Lunch and Breakfast Programs.
- Prepares a variety of foods for meal and a l a carte service.
- Follows all federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation requirements.
- Prepares items for special promotions, holidays and other celebrations.
- Sets up food and supplies for servings.
- Serves meals, meal components and a la carte items to students following designated portion sizes.
- Supplies and replenishes food items for the serving line(s) as needed.
- Store or dispose of excess food properly.
- Correctly operates and cleans kitchen equipment such as: ovens, steamers, mixers, serving lines, and dish machine.
- Operates cash register and counts money daily.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and perform frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand and arm motions. Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods during food preparation and service.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent or his or her designee may assign.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in food service, school nutrition, commercial kitchens, or a related field preferred.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety practices.
- Demonstrated record of reliable attendance, punctuality, and dependability.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with other kitchen staff.
- Ability to follow standardized recipes, portion guidelines, and food production schedules.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and interact positively with students, staff, and the public.
