Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Technician to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team. This position involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair as well as participating in an on‑call rotation. All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition to hardware and network repair candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site‑level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in on‑call rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed. Some travel may be required. You will be required to work shift work that will include days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Key Job Responsibilities Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, and carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services. Serve as a primary contact point for both internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors. Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities. Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues. Help interview, train, and onboard new team members. A Day in the Life Take ownership of technical issues brought by the customer base, engaging other teams when needed to drive resolution. Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving. Solve problems at their root and step back to understand the broader context. Maintain service level agreements through the implementation of proactive issue detection and reporting. Act in the absence of direction or support. Improve effectiveness through process innovation. Basic Qualifications 2+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience, or experience related IT. 2+ years of computer layer 1/2 networking (including troubleshooting and repair) experience. Work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of network design, protocols and troubleshooting. Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration. Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering), or experience in professional or military IT-related roles. Experience in a data center or other critical environment. Experience managing a team and training/on‑boarding new members.
