Diagnostic Imaging Technologist

Job Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the C.T. Department.
  • Performs diagnostic C.T. procedures such as head, chest, spine, abdomen, pelvis, etc. Assists physicians in performing other C.T. procedures such as biopsies, etc., as needed. Cardiac, vascular, bone density and 3-D reconstruction.
  • Transports patients by stretcher, bed, wheelchair, or walking. Provides care for patients during transportation and within the department, if necessary.
  • Assists patients by lifting and moving them off and on the scanning table. Provides bedpans and urinals as needed. Assures that patients are properly dressed for their procedures.
  • Prepares patient for exam by consenting, explaining exam and answering patient questions. Starts intravenous lines and administers contrast and other preparations so as to complete exam in a timely fashion.
  • Cares for patient during procedures by assisting them to rest rooms, giving them blankets, etc.
  • Evaluates patient condition pre and post-procedure and reports changes in the patient's condition to nurses or Radiologist for follow-up.
  • Assists with emergency medical treatment under physician direction.
  • Pulls contrast from Pyxis per protocol and documents contrast in eMar per protocol. Mixes oral and rectal contrast per protocol for pertinent exams. Is competent in loading power injector for contrast studies.
  • Performs related duties such as reporting equipment malfunctions, assists others, and special assignments. Cleans work area, orders and maintains the department inventory of supplies.
  • Reviews and verifies outpatient orders for the following day. Makes appropriate calls to physician etc. to verify orders if needed.
  • Serves as a resource person for the technologists, referring Physicians, Radiologists, patient care departments, and other department staff.
  • Keeps the C.T. department staff informed on system and/or operation changes. Attends regularly scheduled department meetings and in-services to maintain working knowledge of changes in equipment and protocols. Maintains CEU's and CPR for license.
  • Participates actively in Performance Improvement and Quality measures.
  • Responsible for staff training, competency, and training.
  • Is competent in Meditech, PACS, and Pyxis as it pertains to imaging and patient care.
  • Works closely with Radiologist and Department Manager to develop and implement C.T. policies and protocols.
  • Works with Manager to maintain ACR accreditation for C.T.

Education and Experience

Education: Work requires completion of a two-year Radiologic Technology training program approved by the American Medical Association (AMA).

Licensure: CRT certification, ARRT (CT) certification and Fluoroscopy certification are required. Current BLS/Healthcare Provider status as per American Heart Association standards required.

Experience: At least three (3) years of experience as a licensed Radiologic Technologist and 2 years' experience as a CT Technologist.

Pay Range: The hourly rate for this position is $64.10 - $77.14. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.

Shift Differentials:

Hourly Evening Shift Differential: $2.00

Hourly Night Shift Differential: $4.00

Union: NUHW Work Shift: Day Shift FTE: 1.0 Scheduled Hours: 40
