Created to build off AECOM’s considerable operational expertise in infrastructure design and engineering services, AECOM Advisory is a trusted adviser to senior level clients and executive teams on their most pressing enterprise and strategic needs.We serve the full value chain of clients active in infrastructure, the built environment, and community vibrancy, including: national governments, regulatory entities, city agencies, utilities, transit agencies, infrastructure operators and investors. Our team of 400 staff globally comprises business analysts, economists, commercial strategists, technology architects, human capital and change management practitioners. We are recruiting for this role in the following locations: Boston, MA, New York NY, Washington DC, Miami, FL.You will join as a leader in a fast-paced and supportive team of diverse consulting professionals. We pride ourselves on our strong culture of mentorship and collaborative problem-solving, our mission of addressing our client’s most complex and impactful problems, and paired with career pathways that nurtures professional development and personal growth.Role:As a Director in AECOM Advisory’s US East Region, your day-to-day role will include driving business development, overseeing engagement delivery and leading practice development for the State and Local Government sector. This is a seller-doer role, and these tasks will include, but not be limited to:Being present in industry conversations and professional networks to identify and originate business development opportunitiesLeveraging industry expertise and commercial acumen to proactively target, define and shape business development campaignsOversee all aspects of proposal responses as Capture Manager, including: narrative development, coordinate across multiple teams to develop technical solutions, pricing, team definition, subcontractor engagement, internal risk review, and compliance proceduresOversee (outline, supervise, and provide quality control over) multiple delivery teams comprised of 5-8 Consultants and Senior Consultants across multiple and inter-dependent workstreamsProvide leadership for client interactions on delivery progress and insight validation, and visibility for interactions including with C-suite clients and senior management stakeholdersUpwardly and laterally manage the inputs from Partners and technical experts to flag key delivery choices, considerations and risks as they relate to technical scope, client satisfaction, and commercial constraintsArchitect analytical workstreams and strategically guide engagement teams.Provide timely quality assurance and control over scope, assumptions, analyses and insightsOversee narrative formulation and highly-polished deliverable production to meet client expectations and firm standardsDrive practice development with conducting performance appraisals, FP&A, operational performance improvement, thought leadership and IP generationProactively coach and mentor junior staff on developing core consulting skillsRequired competencies include:Client-service mindset and ability to act as a trusted adviser to clientsCreate a culture of a high-tempo, high-context client-facing environment, with the ability to maintain poise, maturity and work well under pressureAble to be self-directed, anticipatory and a collegial team-player who can work across a devolved-leadership and highly-matrixed consulting organizationExceptional verbal communication and narrative development skills, with the ability to summarize and convey key insights to C-suite and senior management audiencesExceptional commercial acumen and willingness to have an informed point-of-view, grounded in an interest in enterprise challenges (people, process, technology) and expert understanding of client industries and their contextDomain expertise across multiple of the following areas: Corporate or enterprise strategy, market analysis and target operating model design. Organizational assessment, business transformation and performance improvement, Corporate finance, valuations, M&A, divestitures, divestments and privatizations, Technology-led business transformationQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:BS/BA +12 years of related experience with at least 4 years of experience acting in a leadership or practice-building capacity or demonstrated equivalency of experience/educationProven track record in a seller-doer role in a management consulting firmDue to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is requiredPreferred Qualifications:MBA, or other Master’s degree in Operational Research, Management, Management Science, Finance, Economics, Systems Engineering and/or related fieldsAt least 12 years of management consulting and/or related industry experienceCapital projects advisory, including project finance and/or infrastructure investment appraisal, capital improvement planning, asset management, portfolio strategySustainability, climate change, net zero and ESG strategies and frameworks incl. non-financial valuation methodologiesEconomic development, industrial policy and market transformationAdditional InformationDue to the nature of the work, U.S. citizenship is requiredVisa sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now, or in the future, for this positionRelocation assistance is not available for this positionTHIS POSTING IS FOR A CURRENT VACANCY, AND AECOM INTENDS TO FILL THIS POSITION BY NOVEMBER 18th, 2026At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
