About the Facility Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System

The Eastern Colorado Veterans Healthcare System (ECHCS) provides comprehensive healthcare services to veterans across a wide region, including Aurora, Denver, Lakewood, Golden, La Junta, Colorado Springs, Castle Rock, Pueblo, Salida, Lamar, and Burlington. ECHCS offers a range of medical services such as primary care, specialty care, mental health services, surgical procedures, rehabilitation, and long-term care. RN OR - Responsibilities

• The RN OR plays a crucial role in contributing to the patient's assessment, determining priorities, identifying nursing measures, and evaluating outcomes.
• Shall be responsible for executing scrub and circulating duties in the Operating Room, ensuring optimal patient care during surgical procedures.
• Shall assist with GI Lab procedures, showcasing versatility in providing comprehensive nursing care.
• Shall ensure a comprehensive understanding of the patient's background in preparation for surgery.
• Shall formulate and document a detailed plan of care in the patient's medical record, tailoring it specifically for the surgical context.
• Shall verify the transcription of physician's orders and ensure accurate documentation in the inpatient medical record, carry out prescribed orders to facilitate a seamless surgical process.
• The RN OR communicates pertinent patient data to the surgical team, contributing to a collaborative and effective surgical environment.
• Shall continue reassessment of patient conditions and prompt revision of care plans based on identified nursing problems is a critical responsibility for the RN in the Operating Room.
• Shall administering medications and Intravenous (IV) therapies, monitors and meticulously documents patient responses to ensure the safety and efficacy of the surgical intervention.
• Shall operate specialized equipment in the OR, including but not limited to defibrillators, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors, ensuring preparedness for any emergent situations.
• The RN OR also participate in discharge planning, showcasing a commitment to continuity of care beyond the surgery itself.

RN OR - Requirements

• Must possess a bachelor's degree in nursing and should be a registered operating room nurse.
• Shall have a minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN in an operating room setting.
• Can provide nursing care for adult medical and surgical patients.
• Has and maintains current ACLS and BLS certifications.
