About the Role
The Company is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join its dynamic legal team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal advice and counsel to senior academic and administrative leaders on a wide range of matters, including but not limited to, investigations, facility use agreements, real estate, public records, federal and state regulations, academic and student affairs, regulatory compliance, intellectual property, labor and employment, and risk management. This role involves proactive contract management, legal research, and writing, as well as ensuring compliance with various legal and regulatory frameworks. The Assistant General Counsel will also be involved in supervising legal interns, conducting legal and compliance education sessions, and supporting the mission of the institution. Applicants must have a JD from an ABA-accredited law school, be admitted to the Kansas State Bar, and have experience in contract review, drafting, and negotiation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in legal and compliance issues, with a preference for those who have knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, and experience in highly regulated environments. The role requires a professional with a collaborative working style, the ability to communicate complex legal information effectively, and a proven track record of providing prompt and effective legal support. The Assistant General Counsel will be expected to maintain the highest ethical standards, exercise sound judgment, and build and maintain professional relationships across the organization.
