General Production Worker (Slitter)
This role supports slitter and salvage operations by cutting material, assisting machine operators, and handling steel products throughout the production process. The general production worker (slitter) helps ensure safe, efficient, and accurate processing of materials in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist machine operators with daily slitter and salvage operations to maintain steady production flow.
- Cut bands of steel and prepare material according to specified measurements and quality standards.
- Bundle tubes and other finished materials securely for storage, handling, and shipment.
- Recoil material after processing to ensure it is properly wound, labeled, and ready for the next stage of production.
- Operate basic production and machine equipment as directed, following all safety and operational procedures.
- Support general production tasks such as staging materials, cleaning work areas, and organizing finished goods.
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet production targets and maintain consistent output.
- Follow all safety guidelines and use equipment correctly to maintain a safe work environment.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials; use a forklift if trained and authorized.
Essential Skills
- Previous experience in construction or manufacturing environments.
- Basic experience with production or machine operation in an industrial setting.
- Ability to safely cut bands of steel and handle metal materials.
- Capability to support general production tasks, including material handling and basic equipment use.
- Strong attention to safety and adherence to established procedures.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and follow instructions accurately.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Forklift experience or certification is a strong plus.
- Experience with recoiling material or working with slitter machines is beneficial.
- Comfort working with industrial equipment and tools in a production setting.
- Willingness to learn new processes and cross-train on different production tasks.

Work Environment

Safety is a priority, and you will use appropriate personal protective equipment and follow established safety protocols while working on the production floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Vernon, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.50 - $18.50/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
